Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariyan Parvaresh.
Hi Ariyan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My path to design wasn’t a straight line—it was a calling. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in Political Science and planning for law school, I took a step back and chose to pursue what had always inspired me most: architecture and design. I went on to earn her Master’s in Interior Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona, launching a career rooted in both creativity and technical expertise.
I began my professional journey at Landry Design Group, where I had the opportunity to work on some of the world’s most luxurious residential projects. I later moved to a boutique firm before founding AP Design, driven by my love of being hands-on and involved in every aspect of the design and construction process. Having my own business has allowed me to carry my clients’ visions through to the very last detail.
Twelve years later, AP Design has grown into a practice known for its versatility and craftsmanship, with projects ranging from Spanish estates to contemporary homes, as well as new construction and remodels. Design isn’t just my profession—it’s where creativity, purpose, and connection come together.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but it has absolutely been a meaningful and rewarding one. Early in my career, I was handed tasks that went far beyond what I had learned while earning my degree. For someone just starting out, it was overwhelming. What I didn’t realize at the time was that those intimidating challenges were shaping the designer I would become.
The way I work today—how I document, present, communicate, and think through every detail—comes directly from those early, difficult lessons. Being pushed outside my comfort zone, making mistakes, and learning from them gave me a foundation that ultimately set me apart. Those experiences built the professionalism, resilience, and craft behind the work I’m proud of today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
AP Design is built around the idea of creating a truly customized, client-centered experience. Design is inherently personal, and the relationship between designer and client becomes an intimate one—we value that deeply. Our firm specializes in high-end interior design, home renovations, and select commercial spaces. One of the things we’re known for is our ability to work across a wide range of aesthetics and styles; we’re not confined to a single look.
My extensive travels have also shaped the essence of AP Design. Exploring different cultures, textures, materials, and architectural styles around the world continually informs the layered, globally inspired approach I bring to each project.
What sets us apart is our accessibility and our meticulous attention to detail. I take pride in producing comprehensive drawings and documentation that keep projects organized, aligned, and on schedule—reducing the margin for error, which is vital in construction.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the personal transformation we help create in our clients’ lives. It’s not just about beautiful spaces; it’s about improving the way people live day to day. That impact—both aesthetic and functional—is at the heart of what AP Design stands for.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
One thing I’d love readers to know is that my work goes far beyond drafting floor plans or selecting finishes and furniture. My true role is to reveal what you didn’t even realize you wanted. Many clients come to me with a feeling, an instinct, or a vision they can’t quite put into words—and that’s where I come in. I translate those emotions and impressions into spaces that feel deeply personal, intuitive, and unmistakably theirs. That moment of discovery—when a client sees their unspoken vision come to life—is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
