Exploring Life & Business with Arcy Garcia of Divalloons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arcy Garcia.

Hi Arcy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had been in the beauty industry for almost 15 years as a professional makeup artist. I have experience on film, photoshoots, music videos, bridal and special fx but as much as I love everything about makeup, the long drives and sometimes weird hours were affecting me being present with my sons. After my birthday in December 2019, I decided I needed a change and started looking into trying something new. I remembered a client I had done makeup and hair for when she became a Certified Balloon Artist and how blown away I was with the work she did, that I decided to look into it. I went into a deep dive on YouTube and started learning from DIYers. In February of 2020 I decided to give balloons a try and purchased a hand pump and balloons from the .99 cent store. I did my first gender reveal for my brother on Feb. 29th and honestly had the worst time lol I used a balloon strip which took forever to make the balloon nozzles each go into the holes and then the black balloons all oxidized so fast they looked silver. I definitely learned so much that day. The first time I did balloons for a client I really thought I had it all figured out, now I look back and laugh because I cant believe I thought that looked good. Since then I have taken multiple online and in person classes, Ive attended conventions, have learned so much not just about balloons but about the business and just been enjoying everything the industry has to offer. I have been lucky enough to be a part of amazing balloon builds but my favorite experience has to be the Balloon Museum when it came to LA. Working next to amazing and talented artists from around the world has helped me so much by learning their techniques plus little tips and tricks that you can only learn by working beside them. I feel extremely lucky and blessed to have had the opportunities I’ve had in this industry and all the wonderful people I’ve met along the way. Im extremely thankful to my makeup career because it definitely helped shape the artist I have become in this world of balloons and because of that I pay homage to that part of myself by naming my business Divalloons. From “bringing the Diva you have inside” to being “the Diva bringing you balloons with personality” I continue to fulfill the artist inside me and the little girl in me feels so proud!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasnt all been amazing, learning a new business is always hard specially trying to navigate it on your own. This industry is full of people that will look down upon you for not having certain certifications or doing things your own way instead of the “professional” way. As an artist I dont believe theres only one way to do things so I have learned to just go with the flow and if im working with a team that does things a different way than I do, its ok, I can do it their way get the job done and move on.

As you know, we’re big fans of Divalloons. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Im an artist that specializes in Balloon Decor for any type of event or social gathering. I do everything from backdrops, centerpieces, helium balloon bouquets, balloon arrangements, but my favorite thing to do is customize balloons. You want your team or logo on a balloon, I got you! I love to just have fun with balloons and enjoy when I get the freedom to just do what I envision with the budget im given.

I have had the pleasure to learn from amazing and talented artists but I will forever be grateful to Profe Eduardo from LIYOEDMICKEY for believing in me and always teaching me without holding back any of his knowledge. To Arturo and his wife Bibi from MegaShine and Novedades Peyma for seeing potential in me and giving me the chance to be a part of their crew.
