Exploring Life & Business with Antoinette ‘andi’ Clay of IMURJ Public Relations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antoinette ‘andi’ Clay

Hi Antoinette ‘Andi’, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
For as long as I can remember, storytelling has been a part of my personality. I was the kid who always writing in journals and essays, by high school, I was the go-to reporter for our video yearbook, capturing moments, telling stories, and interviewing people with a natural curiosity. But I never imagined those early experiences would one day evolve into a PR firm.

I was looking to start a business with money my mom left me and back then, a close friend started dating a guy who had just gone what we would’ve called “viral” back then—before TMZ, before social media made fame feel instant. Suddenly, she was facing the possibility of paparazzi encounters and high-profile scrutiny, completely unprepared for the spotlight. She needed to show up with confidence, make a strong impression, and navigate the attention strategically. I stepped in to help craft her narrative to ensure she owned every room she walked into. That moment was my wake-up call—PR wasn’t just about celebrities. It was about controlling the narrative, shaping perception, and creating opportunities.

From that pivotal moment, my focus expanded. I began working with reality TV personalities, small business owners, creatives, and entrepreneurs—talented people who were exceptional at their craft but struggled with making public appearances, working with sponsors, commanding a room filled with key decision-makers, and delivering compelling presentations. Many were relying solely on social media algorithms, hoping their work would magically get discovered, not realizing how much they were leaving to chance. That’s where IMURJ PR stepped in.

I built IMURJ PR on the belief that public relations isn’t about fame—it’s about presence, positioning, and impact. I developed structured services like the S.T.A.R. Blueprint© Analysis, a deep-dive assessment of a business’s visibility and industry standing, and Brand Amplify© by IMURJ PR, a supportive community designed to keep entrepreneurs consistently seen, relevant, and engaged.

But as I grew IMURJ PR, I realized I wasn’t just helping businesses—I was shifting the entire perception of PR. This realization led me to create ‘I Don’t Want to Be Famous’, a signature workshop and upcoming podcast series that challenges the traditional ideas of publicity and teaches entrepreneurs how to build authority without chasing the spotlight.

IMURJ PR is more than just a firm—it’s a resource. A game-changer for business owners who deserve to be seen, valued, and heard. Because in today’s world, visibility isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. And I’m here to make sure the right people are finally getting the recognition they’ve earned.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Not even close.

Self-sabotage and imposter syndrome are very real. The biggest hurdle? Stepping out of my own shadows and getting out of my head. I’ve always done amazing work for others—crafting their stories, positioning them for success, and ensuring they made a lasting impression. But when it came to my own visibility? That was a different story. Like many of the clients I now serve, I was comfortable behind the scenes. The idea of putting myself out there, marketing my own expertise, and claiming my space felt overwhelming. I had to unlearn playing small and embrace the fact that the work I was doing wasn’t just valuable—it was necessary.

Then there’s the life that comes with running a business. In the beginning, I was so focused on serving clients that I neglected my own business infrastructure. I had to learn the hard way that if I didn’t treat IMURJ PR like a business instead of a passion project—it wouldn’t survive. That meant creating scalable services, building systems for client management, and learning to price my expertise appropriately.

Another major challenge? Convincing business owners that PR isn’t just for the rich and famous. Many small business owners and creatives assume they don’t need PR—or worse, that it’s a luxury they can’t afford. I had to educate my audience on why visibility is essential at every stage of business and help them see that showing up strategically is the difference between being overlooked and being in demand.

But it’s been worth every twist, turn, and obstacle—because now, I get to help others navigate their own path to visibility, without making the same mistakes I did.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
3 things people would be surprised to know about me:

I used to avoid the spotlight myself. Crazy, right? The person who helps others show up with confidence used to struggle with putting herself out there. I spent years behind the scenes, supporting clients, building strategies, and making sure everyone else was seen—while quietly staying in the background. Overcoming that hesitation is exactly why I’m so passionate about helping others step into their power without fear.

I thrive in high-stakes situations. Some people get overwhelmed by pressure—I spring into action. It could be a last-minute pivot before a major presentation, turning an underwhelming presentation into something unforgettable or solving a PR crisis, I love the challenge of making things happen strategically.

I’m a pretty good singer. Yes, PR is my world, but music has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve studied and trained in school, even performed on stage—but I do my best work at live band karaoke. Music is magic to me. It inspires, it heals, it transforms. It has the power to take you back to a moment in time, to shift your mood in an instant, to connect people who have never met. It’s more than just sound—it’s energy, emotion, and storytelling all wrapped into one.
