Exploring Life & Business with Haniff Brown of Fit Match in Glendale Galleria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haniff Brown.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a Founder and CEO, am a first-generation immigrant. I went to Williams College in MA where I graduated with a Mathematics and Psychology double major. After school, I worked in finance where I began my career as an investment banking analyst. Moreover, I focused solely on helping companies in the retail space which gave me a better appreciation for the industry, including the challenges and opportunities. After Investment Banking, I worked in Private Equity at an LA-based firm called Freeman Spogli. The firm is focused solely on investing in retail and consumer companies; and so I ended up spending almost nine years helping retailers and brands grow and scale their businesses before founding FIT:MATCH in early 2018.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Very few businesses travel along a smooth road. Our road has certainly presented its fair set of challenges. For one, we are solving a big problem: apparel is a $400B market and fit specifically is a $100 to $150B annual problem for brands and retailers. Therefore, we had to build and invest in our infrastructure significantly before selling our solution to end consumers or retailers. This also meant that we had to try several iterations of our product and test out the market reaction long before true validation. This posed several challenges including hiring. For example, bringing on people to the team in the earliest of days was particularly difficult because the product was a couple of years from being finished. Fortunately, we have been surrounded by an amazing group of investors, mentors, advisors and friends who have kept us focused on the long-term opportunity.

We’ve been impressed with FIT MATCH, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fit Match offers an artificial intelligence based technology platform for processing 3D body scans to derive customers’ body shapes, combining them with a brand’s product specs, and then showing the customers the sizes that will fit her, providing a personalized experience. Apparel retailers and brands use the FIT:MATCH platform to increase conversions, reduce returns and provide shoppers with personalized experiences in-store and online. We are the most proud of the accuracy and robust nature of our platform. We are serving a wide range of brands across multiple product categories at scale. Our vision is to make ecommerce frictionless and enable every shopping experience to be personalized.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
