Denise Bella Vlasis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Denise Bella, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I feel most people may not understand what it takes to make it in the celebrity impersonator or tribute artist industry.
Most people have no idea of the challenges many tribute artists and impersonators face and the hard work and dedication it takes to stand in the shoes of an icon.
Working in this industry can be even harder work than the job of an actor, singer or comedian as you have to (convincingly) bring a celebrity to life through your own talents and that takes much more than just looking like someone famous (which most people assume is that the job is).
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Denise Bella Vlasis
Guinness World Record holding the title as ;longest career as Madonna’s impersonator.
Mother, vegan, creative soul.
Owner of Tribute Productions Talent
Owner and creator or Mrs. Bella’s Dolls & Mrs. Bella’s Champagne Dolls
Author of 3 books (now released on Amazon and Barnes & Noble is my 3rd book DEAR MADONNA)
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom
who always seemed to believe in not only miracles but the miracle of who she believed I was
and would dare me to live straight from my heart
Mom was my cheerleader and was the 1st person to ask me to dress up like Madonna to visit children in need
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Dancing
Dance class
Helping animals
Mom
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Madonna for being resilient
Jane Goodall for being an example
Michael Bernard Beckwith for his authenticity
Stevie Wonder for his message
My daughter Sofia for just being Sofia
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People can sometimes assume with my career as Madonna impersonator that is all there is to me when in fact my Madonna impersonator work led me to be bold enough to do so many more things in life.
