Daily Inspiration: Meet Zazu Moloi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zazu Moloi.

Hi Zazu, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey is kind of odd, to say the least. I was born in Arizona to two Lesotho parents. I went to Arizona State University and graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering. From there, I worked in the industry for two years before realizing this wasn’t for me. I switched careers in 2018 and started getting into the social media space. From there, I traveled the world, started going to fashion weeks in Paris and London, and really began to shape the type of life I wanted to live.

It was just this past year after coming back from London fashion week in September of 2019 that I expanded my view in the Cue a rare opportunity to attend London Fashion Week Fall 2019, expanding my worldview and igniting a passion for photography was born. This passion has taken me further than previous ambitions have thus far. In four short months, I was able to shoot and create relationships with notable artists, Saint Jhn, Young Thug, Noah Cyrus, Stormzy, and most notable Machine Gun Kelly.

From here, I have used my connections to create a large network of creative professionals dedicated to the art. I call this project, Installennial. Installennial has been my passion project from the beginning of my venture into the gift of photography. Through Installennial, I have been able to connect with people across the world and create and capture moments that the average person could never conceive. Having just recently completed a Music video and commercial for WeTheBand, Justin Biebers traveling band for the changes tour, and LG’s newest flagship phone I can only foresee a greater future for me, my brand and my business.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Some of the most trivial “bumps in the road” I’ve come across is being able to have an opportunity. People don’t realize how hard it is to be in “the ” situation that will put you over the top. People along the way will doubt you, put you down, and even straight throw shade on you all because of their own insecurity. Opportunity is everything, and I’m blessed to have been able to break through some of these boundaries with reckless abandon.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer and more recently a creative director. I am most well known for my tour with MGK and Young Thug. My claim to fame is my polaroid photography. I think that is what sets me apart from most photographers in the scene nowadays as you don’t see someone shooting concerts with a polaroid camera.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for finding a mentor would be to not seek one out. I have never had a mentor in the scene and have really come up and paved my own path thus far. I wish that I had a guide to tell me the way but the more I get into this, the more I realize that life isn’t always going to give you the answers. You have to try, fail and learn.
