Daily Inspiration: Meet Yvette Aispuro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvette Aispuro.

Yvette, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began with curiosity and a camera in my hand long before I ever called myself a photographer. I grew up surrounded by art, culture, and movement, all of which shaped how I see the world. I started photographing my friends, local artists, and community events just to capture the emotion and authenticity of those moments.

Over time, that passion evolved into a career. I’ve collaborated with brands like Jeffrey Campbell, Dr. Martens, Larucci, Muse Apothecary, and Utierre. Creating imagery that merges design, culture, and storytelling. My work balances the commercial with the personal; I love crafting visuals for brands while also producing creative projects that express identity and connection.

One of those projects is called Femmes of DarkWave, which I co-produced with my friend Sevin Mundo, an analog film photographer. The series celebrates women in the darkwave and post-punk music scene, highlighting artists who embody strength, liberation of freedom, and individuality through sound and style. It’s been a way to honor the creative women shaping underground culture and to tell their stories visually.

Every project I take on, whether it’s a campaign or an independent art piece is about honesty, collaboration, and growth. Photography has taught me patience, presence, and how to transform emotion into form. I continue to build a practice that bridges storytelling, design, and artistic expression.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being a freelance artist comes with a lot of layers, self-promotion, networking, and staying active in the scene. It’s a fast-paced industry, and if you’re not consistent, it’s easy to fade from visibility. There are times when balancing creative work, side hustles, and the constant demand of social media can feel overwhelming.

Staying relevant while remaining true to yourself is a constant push and pull. I’ve learned that consistency doesn’t always mean creating nonstop. Sometimes it’s about taking space to recharge and reconnect with real life. The struggle is finding that balance between creating for passion and creating for survival, but every challenge has taught me discipline and resilience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer and creative director based in Long Beach and Los Angeles. My work moves between editorial, product, and fine art photography, merging emotion, design, and storytelling. I specialize in creating cinematic imagery that feels raw and intentional when I’m shooting for a brand or documenting a moment in underground culture. I’m drawn to people, their stories, and the spaces they build around them. I approach every project like a collaboration. Whether it’s with a designer, a musician, or another artist, I want the image to reflect who they are, not just what they look like.

One of my proudest projects is Femmes of DarkWave, which I co-produced with my friend Sevin Mundo. It highlights women in the darkwave and post-punk music scene, artists who embody strength, individuality, and liberation of freedom. That project represents everything I stand for: authenticity, community, and art that amplifies real voices.

At the end of the day, my goal is to create work that inspires the imagination.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is playing outside with my neighbors, learning how to skateboard, and feeling the pure freedom of being a kid, no bills, no worries, just joy. I loved that time in life when everything felt open and limitless, when creativity came naturally and the world felt full of possibility. Those moments taught me how to be present, curious, and connected, qualities that still show up in my work today.
