Daily Inspiration: Meet Virgen Melendez Walcott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Virgen Melendez Walcott.

Hi Virgen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Greetings, thanks so much for this opportunity to share this story with you. Ama Healing was started after a lifechanging experience of witnessing how plants saved my dad’s life. It made me very curious about the power of plant medicine and I applied for a trusted herbalism school out of Maine. It was so inspiring to learn how plants and flowers can support both the body and spirit in many ways. As I experimented with formulas to support my own imbalances, each time I discovered the power of this medicine. I couldn’t keep this gem to myself, so I’m full of gratitude to share these offerings with the community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a mixed unfolding in the developing of this brand. The formulas have been so intuitive and a joy to bring together. The vision was clear from the start. The community has been so supportive. The counterbalance has been navigating how to be an entrepreneur. While so many walk this path, it feels like there are not enough resources to support the success of small businesses. It is also a challenge navigating the many roles and responsibilities of life while learning how to build and run a business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am both an artist and herbalist. I believe in crafting herbal formulas with beauty and purpose to support the whole well-being of the body, and especially that of mothers and their families. I find there is not enough support to the motherhood community and I am here to change that. I’ve created a beautiful, love-filled medicine cabinet that is 100% natural, organic, and safe for the whole family. I work with local farms to source the ingredients and am passionate about taking care of Mother Earth so our products and packaging can be reused, recycled, or composted.

How do you define success?
Success to me is to live in authenticity. When we choose to be ourselves, we can truly bring forth our art in a way that serves ourselves and the community.
