Daily Inspiration: Meet Terry Eastland Jr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terry Eastland Jr

Hi Terry, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After being laid off by my job as a mortgage banker, I decided to take a break from sales and pursue my passion for cooking by enrolling in culinary school. After graduating with the highest honors in May of 2024, I partnered up with my childhood friend and chef Anthony to create “Much Love” Haute Wings in June of 2024. We take an elevated approach to the standard party wing. Our unique sauces are made in-house and served over perfectly crispy, juicy, seasoned wings along with delicious French fries.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We face many obstacles as a pop-up concept. The workload can be strenuous. Not having a brick and mortar means lots of loading and unloading equipment for each and every event. Not having a b&m also means that when people really like our food they don’t have a central location to find us. Finding opportunities that are worth the investment are always hit and miss so you have to be prepared to take some financial losses along the way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently running Much Love and working as a cook for multiple brands. In the last few months I’ve cooked for a number of festivals including Coachella, Hardly Home, I love RnB & I love the 80’s, Complex Cons Family Style, and many more. I specialize in fine dining cuisine and elevated reimagined dishes. In the culinary industry I’m most known as “the food guy at all the festivals” but outside of that some may know me as Rapper, Producer, and DJ “T.Gatez”. Being able to roll with life’s punches is something I’m most proud of. I’ve worked in so many different industries and have been able apply different skills I’ve learned at each one to make myself who I am today. What sets me apart from others is that I refuse to be outworked. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. While others may look to cut corners or only give half effort, I’m ready and willing to go all in with my efforts and energy.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Taking risks is a part of life. I would consider myself and any other entrepreneur a risk taker. In my line of business you might invest thousands of dollars just to make back a couple hundred. It’s never easy, but it’s important to take away what worked and what didn’t work in those times and comeback with a better game plan for the next one. Your success is hiding behind that risk that you are not willing to take. Take it, stand on it, grow from it.
