Daily Inspiration: Meet Sonnemm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonnemm. 

Hi Sonnemm, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Life is crazy and honestly, you never know where it’s gonna take you. My journey started so long ago but at the same time, it feels like yesterday. I started in my elementary school choir, then playing drums in my high school rock band, and then my first important band “Paramusicales” which led me to look further and that’s when I decided to move out of Peru and move to the US. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being part of the music industry is not for people without thick skin. It requires so much dedication, sacrifice, but most importantly, discipline. Which is one of the main factors why you will see so many people with so much talent not being able to make a living out of their art. That can be the determining factor between success or failure, probably bigger than “luck”. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a music producer and music director. I am in charge of the production, recording, and engineering of different songs and also in the execution, arrangement, and programming of Live shows for different artist around the US. 

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think risk is the second determining factor in success of failure in an art-related project. You have to be disciplined enough to do things despite rejection, and after that, take risk cause your comfort zone is a very easy and comfortable way to failure! If you don’t take risks as an artist, life will only pass by and we won’t be able to innovate and express ourselves; which is ultimately the main goal of art.
