Daily Inspiration: Meet Sharyn Goldyn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharyn Goldyn

Hi Sharyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Los Angeles 12 years ago and have always worked in live music. I recently spearheaded the opening of West Hollywood’s newest music venue The Sun Rose. It’s a gorgeous, intimate seated venue located in Pendry West Hollywood where the House of Blues once was. We just celebrated our two year anniversary, which I’m quite proud if. Prior to that, I booked the popular hollywood music series “School Night” for six years at Bardot with Chris Douridas (KCRW). I am always so inspired by the amount of talent Los Angeles attracts. I also have published a few poetry books and written for publications such as Vice under a not-so-secret pen name!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Working and thriving in the music industry is so competitive, especially in a large city like Los Angeles. Probably the biggest road block with live music was COVID. Independent venues are struggling to stay open (or have closed down) and independent artists and fans have been affected by the extreme increase in cost of living the past few years. When running a small venue, there is a delicate balance between charging enough money for a ticket so the artist can actually make money but not price out their fans as well.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the Director of Talent for The Sun Rose music venue, which means I book all the artists who play there and run the venue. It’s honestly my favorite place in LA and a hidden gem for those who have discovered it. I am most proud of T-Pain putting us on the map with his super viral (and incredible) performances with us last year. We’ve been so fortunate to welcome the best musicians in the world on stage like Stevie Wonder, T-Pain, Adam Blackstone, Mike Garson, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Andra Day, Robert Glasper, Raye, Beck, Dave Grohl and so many more!

Any big plans?
If there’s one thing I could manifest for the future, it would be a month long Vegas-like residency with Lady Gaga performing jazz on our grand piano at The Sun Rose!
