Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Inez
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey as a makeup and hair artist started in childhood. I was captivated by my mother’s daily routine of getting ready. I watched her expertly apply blue eyeshadow and set her hair in steam rollers, and I was fascinated by how these little rituals transformed her. This sparked a love for makeup that has stayed with me throughout my life.
After many years of practicing and learning, I joined M.A.C, one of the leading brands in the industry. For twelve years, I developed my skills and worked with a wide range of clients. This experience taught me that makeup is not just about looking good; it’s about expressing who you are. Each person I worked with had their unique style, and I loved helping them enhance their beauty in a way that felt right for them.
After 18 years in the fast-paced world of cosmetic retail, I found myself at a pivotal moment in my career. An opportunity arose that would transform my personal and professional journey: an interview for the position of in-house hair and makeup artist at Revolve. This role not only promised to broaden my artistic horizons but also offered a unique glimpse into the intersection of beauty and photography—a realm I had always been fascinated by.
In addition to my work at Revolve, I have also immersed myself in the bridal world, providing hair and makeup services for weddings. This experience has added another layer to my artistry, allowing me to create timeless looks that celebrate love and individuality. Each bride has her own vision, and it is my job to bring that to life, ensuring she feels radiant on her special day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At first, I felt overwhelmed by all the products and techniques. Some days, I would nail a look, while other days, it was a total disaster. But each mistake taught me something new. I realized that makeup isn’t just about looking perfect; it’s about trying new things and figuring out what works for me.
Makeup trends are always shifting. What’s popular today might not be tomorrow. This can be scary, but it also keeps things exciting! I love learning about new products and styles. Each season brings new ideas, encouraging me to adapt and try fresh looks.
Instead of fearing these changes, I’ve learned to embrace them. This mindset has opened up my creativity and allowed me to explore unique styles I wouldn’t have tried before. By welcoming change, I can connect better with my clients and create looks that reflect their personalities.
My makeup journey has been all about learning from mistakes, valuing feedback, and enjoying the constant evolution of the art. Makeup isn’t just a skill for me; it’s a passion. I’m excited to see where this journey leads, knowing that each experience helps shape my story as an artist.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a makeup artist, I love creating looks that reflect my clients’ unique styles. While I often enjoy bold makeup on myself, my focus is on embracing what my clients want.
I specialize in tailored makeup applications. Whether it’s a natural look for a wedding, a glamorous style for a night out, or something daring, I work closely with my clients to bring their vision to life. Listening to their preferences is key to creating a look that makes them feel confident and beautiful.
I stay updated with the latest makeup techniques and trends so I can offer a variety of styles. This way, my clients can enjoy both my artistic touch and their personal style. My passion lies in creating personalized makeup looks that celebrate each individual’s beauty, blending my bold artistry with their unique preferences.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Makeup artists often experiment with bold colors and unique styles. They might mix unexpected colors or try new techniques that stand out. While this creativity can create stunning looks, it also means they might face criticism if people don’t like the outcome.
Artists must balance their creative ideas with what clients want. Sometimes, they suggest bold looks that clients might be nervous about. A makeup artist’s ability to encourage clients to try something new can lead to beautiful transformations, but it requires courage on both sides.
Taking risks can help makeup artists build a strong personal brand. Those who are willing to push boundaries often become known for their unique styles. While this can lead to great success, it also means they must be prepared for both praise and criticism.
Makeup artists take risks in their creative choices, client interactions, trend adaptation, and reputation building. These risks are essential to their growth and success in the ever-evolving world of beauty.
