Daily Inspiration: Meet Sandy Richards of Blossom & Lily

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Richards.

Hi Sandy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started with my love of shopping for clothes and the great memories that I had shopping with my grandma. My grandma knew Del Amo Mall like the back of her hand and never missed a deal! She had an eye for great quality, and all of my choices had to meet her approval, of course! Our annual back-to-school shopping tradition was something that I would always look forward to. Shopping was an experience, a memory that I look back on fondly.

Now, with two daughters of my own, I wanted to be able to pass down that experience to them. I wanted to recreate the same great memories that I had of shopping when I was young. Don’t get me wrong, I love the convenience of online shopping, but I think we can also create space for the joy that comes with shopping in-person. Feeling the fabric in person, modeling our outfits and being the star of our own little fashion show!

How could I share my love of shopping with others? How could I recreate this joy for others? It started small, with just a few parties hosted at my house selling clothes that I had purchased from wholesale vendors. All the girls that came had so much fun, shopping with their friends and trying on clothes. It brought me so much happiness! So I thought, how can I turn this into something bigger? I finally saved up enough money to rent a space in Redondo Beach, which I lovingly call my showroom. Here, we schedule private shopping appointments for kids to come and shop with their friends and family and can accommodate up to 6 shoppers at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to creating and growing my company has been far from smooth! I graduated from college with a degree in business administration and a concentration in accounting, so launching a clothing store wasn’t exactly in my wheelhouse! However, where there is a will and passion, there is a way! We have been in business in the South Bay for 3 years now and have recently launched our own Blossom & Lily clothing line to compliment the other clothing brands that are currently offered in our showroom. It took over a year of searching for me to find the high-quality materials that I wanted to offer my customers and months to find a production partner that was willing to guide me through the process, step-by-step.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We provide a fun space to bring your kiddos to shop! We offer girls’ clothing in a variety of styles from a variety of brands in sizes 4 to 14. I am extremely proud of our Blossom & Lily line of premium graphic tees and sweatshirts. Our Blossom & Lily line is made in Los Angeles from high quality, eco-friendly fabric that is produced from sustainably sourced materials.

I am also proud of our customer service. When you shop in our showroom, I am your dedicated personal shopper! Don’t have time to stop by our showroom? No problem!
