Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabir El Bey
Hi Sabir, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story began in a small town called Bakersfield, a city that’s about an hour and a half away from Los Angeles. In Bakersfield, there isn’t much but a mall and a couple movie theaters, beyond that there was nothing to do and no inspiration to be found, and everyone who lives in Bakersfield is pretty much okay with that. I must admit, I was okay with that too until I made my first trip to LA. I found my opportunity in the year 2020, using EDD money to purchase my first running car, a black 1997 Toyota Corolla. I had just been fired from my job and now I had passive income coming to me in good amounts. Driving around my city and enjoying my freedom, one day I came to realize that there was nothing there for me. The realization was so deep that I packed my belongings, everything I owned into my car and got on the freeway the very same day. It was the first time I had ever driven so far on my own , and I had no idea what my plan was or where I was going. As I crossed through the grapevine, it was pitch black with nothing but stars above, shining so brightly almost as if they were guiding me. I released my anxieties to the sound of Jaden Smith playing through my rattling speakers and pressed forward into the unknown. I arrived in Los Angeles around midnight with the intention of going towards the ocean. Everyone had already settled into their homes, and the emptiness resembled a ghost town. My new home was the car that I came in, and I had to find a safe place to park and go to sleep. When daybreak came, I got up to the sound of a buses and cars, people and dogs, all sorts of things. I grabbed what I needed, locked my car, and headed towards the beach so that I could witness the sun rising. All around me, new sights and sounds that inspired me to reinvent myself, and it was the feeling of a new beginning. I reached the sand, and then I reached the shore where I began affirming greatness over myself. My desire for money and greatness lead me through many phases and experiences, it lead me through highs and lows, but I never did give up no matter what came to pass, and I never could give in matter who had asked me to. At the time, I wanted to be an author of self help books that would improve humanity, but through various experiences my knack for poetry and written word turned into rhymes and songs when I was taken to a home made studio. In about an hours time, I created a song called “TAKE”, mainly because I had been arrested in Beverly Hills for allegedly trying to do just that. Immediately I realized that I had discovered my purpose when everyone praised me for creating the best first song they had ever heard, and since that day I would stop at nothing to pursue this burning desire within my heart, no matter where it lead, and no matter what I had to do to accomplish it. My pen name as an author TAI LEI, a Chinese translation of the name my mother gave me. I took LEI from my pen names and combined it with EL from my true name, a name I received from god while in the midst of meditation. I became LEI EL, and this entity is now more than just a name at this point. It can and will alter the world to fulfill its purpose. It can give and take, to perpetuate its existence. I AM LEI EL
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I faced many things when I truly found myself and decided that this is what I am to be. I had already ran out of friends, but when my purpose arrived my “family” began acting as if they were not my family at all. Asking me to give up, trying their best to gaslight and prevent my success, asking me why I continue standing up when knocked down, telling me to get a job, saying anything and everything they could to make me give my dream up, just as they did. When you have joy and hope in your eyes and a dream in your heart, at that point in your life you will learn that misery and miserable people love company. The losing team loves to gather and forcefully recruit more teammates, but it is entirely up to you if you join them. We all have free will from source, and what you do with it is something you must live with until your story comes to an end.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently undergoing the process of establishing my LLC, and creating my line of designer garments, tools and accessories under the royal name EL BEY.
In addition to this, I am also creating music entirely on my own under the artist name LEI EL
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I liked best about my city was the parks where I would go to meditate, exercise, read, and plan my future.
What I like least is everything else.
