Daily Inspiration: Meet Ryan Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Brown.

Ryan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
HeroDad Coaching grew from a passion for wanting to help single dads develop stronger relationship with their kids after their divorce. Many single fathers experience a great deal of anxiety and depression, which often prevents them from spending quality time with their kids. HeroDad coaching provides a targeted, and unique approach to helping single dads identify areas of improvment and provides structre for setting and achieving their personal goals. Founder, Ryan Brown, is an ICF affiliated coach and has spent over a decade working with people from all different walks of life reconnnect with their passion and find more time to be creative. The pivot to working single dads came after having a son and getting divorced in 2023. Having gone thought periods of lonliness and deep depression, it became essesntial to create something specific for single dads.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been peaks and valleys. At the beginning, there was a lot of excitment around the idea. A lot of positive feedback was shared and there was much anticipation around the packages and resources. After the intial “buzz” quited down, there have been some times where it felt like HeroDad coaching would always be and idea I liked, but was not something sustainable or that would make a successful business. But then I remember we are just a year old and all new business go throught growing pains. I am content with where we are and how we are growing. Sometimes quality is better than quantity. And I feel like the clients we have had so far are all doing so well. Achieving their goals and making huge strides financially. It is exciting to be a part of their success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My speciality is in creative problem solving and strageic questioning. My clients would say I am known for my deep questions, and ability to encourge them to stretch their limits. We set “regular” goals but we also talk about big, massive, shoot-for-the-moon goals. Those goals are usually several years away. But it is such a joy to see them dream big and expand their concept of what their capacity reall could be. What sets me apart from others is my ability to ask targeted questions and come up with prompts that get you to start becoming a creative problem solver. When I see my clients making progress in this area I know I am doing my job to the best of my ability.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Make a list of people you admire or have the job/career that you want. Write down the qualities they express, listen to any interviews they have done or articles they have written. This will help you define the “avitar” for what kind of mentor you are seeking. One tip I have for networking is having a plan/goal for when you are networking. What are you trying to achieve? Setting up a conversation? Funding for your project? Asking for an introduction? Having a plan in place helps you prepare your “ask” and deliver it with confidence and poise.
