Daily Inspiration: Meet Rich

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rich.

Hi Rich, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as an actor in New York after high school, then moved to Los Angeles when I turned 20. I was an actor up until I was 32, then I started writing screenplays full time. I’ve written many films and TV shows and genuinely love doing it. I had several films made as a writer, which compelled me to start directing and start a production company with my beautiful fiance, Laura Vale. I’ve produced and directed two films now and I’m about to start my third in the fall.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not ben a smooth ride. To say the least. Even when you’re on top, this business is a very difficult one. You have to deeply love telling stories if you’re going to be in showbiz. Because if you’re in it just to make money, all I can say is, good luck. I’ve struggled to find co-workers that care as much as I do about making a quality film. Unfortunately, most people just want to get a paycheck and don’t really care about doing something really well. So, I’d say finding other skilled creatives and producers that are like-minded is very difficult.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I write and direct feature films. I specialize in thrillers and dark comedies. So far, I’m most proud of the two films I’ve directed. Culprit, which is currently available on all platforms and a dark comedy feature called The Clutterbucks, which is soon to be released.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
My favorite thing: There’s an endless amount of things to do and great food to eat.
My least favorite thing: Endless traffic.
