Daily Inspiration: Meet Pharoah Brand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pharoah Brand.

Hi Pharoah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started off in school at Castlemont Business Information & Technology. Where I took my first fashion and design class. I had the opportunity to visit Los Angeles for the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising FIDM Fashion Show. Once I arrived back in Oakland; I modeled my designs at our school fashion show. That’s when I was approached to participate in the Young Men’s Pilot Focus Group for Macy’s. As a participant, I was responsible for attending meetings held in the Macy’s corporate office in San Francisco, CA. Assignments were issued prior to each meeting on issues concerning the growing young men’s business in retail. I openly gave my opinions and ideas on such topics as in store visuals marketing to Young customers ( via radio ads, magazines, and newspaper ads, etc. ), special events, store designs, and industry trends. I presented ideas to Macy’s executives throughout the course of the program. The final project involved presenting to the CEO, Vice President, and Group Merchandising Manager of Macy’s. Gained valuable exposure to the retail industry through presenting in front of large groups of peers and top executives. I went on to being Docker’s Merchandising Specialist for 4 years to Levi’s Brand Specialist for the last 3 years. I also had the opportunity to style Los Angeles Spectrum International Beauty Expo Billboard & I was featured in Vogue Italia three times as a wardrobe stylist. Currently I’ve been styling for fashion shows, magazines, and modeling agencies. Oakland, San Francisco & Los Angeles, CA.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Someone canceling last minute or an unpaid project; but it’s been smooth for the most part.
