Daily Inspiration: Meet Paris Holman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paris Holman.

Hi Paris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Wow! Every time someone asks me this question, I tend to get a little teary-eyed. I never imagined myself owning my own business. It was never a dream to me. I was raised by two very young parents who had me while in high school. At a really young age, my parents taught me to work hard and always do my best. Both of parents worked really hard to save money and make ends meet for my brothers and me. Their work ethic was amazing! I wanted to mimic their work ethic, so I did! I worked almost every day since the age of 13.

When I was old enough, I moved out of the house at 18. In 2003, I attended Howard University in Washington, DC as an Army ROTC Cadet, worked hard, and played hard. My junior year in college, I got pregnant, but I refused to quit. If my momma could do it as a teenager, I could surely do it as a college student with a career already lined up! The first week of my senior year, I gave birth to my first baby girl; finished college and Commissioned into the United States Army one year later. Shortly after that, I got married; gained a bonus son and gave birth to two more little ones over the years.

A lot changed over the years, growth, maturity, duty station after duty station with new military assignments, and seasonal transitions. During the Pandemic, my kids’ father and I decided to divorce. It wasn’t until months after, in 2021, did reality sink in that I was now a single parent and I needed to help change the narrative that successfully climbing the ladder, both in a 9-5, while owning a business and being a mom was unattainable. Because the reality is- it’s very, very possible.

I felt the calling on my life to service my community (especially the black community) by empowering and motivating other busy moms to accomplish more with minimal stress. This also included taking time for self-care (both mentally, physically, and spiritually).

So, that is how She Her Go-The Brand, LLC was birthed and what we stand on! This is actually my very first official year as a business owner where my products will be sold online and available across the nation! But, again, never once did I ever consider owning my own business.

I am still a Human Resource Officer in the United States Army, currently residing in Hawaii. My life is constantly “On the Go!” My two youngest kids are busy with piano and other sports; and my oldest daughter is a volleyball player, anxiously awaiting to finish high school, so she can start planning her future and attend college in Fall 2024. I am currently in the process of growing She Her Go. In the next month, we will be dropping journals, which will include a list of writing prompts. We are currently in the development phase of designing life planners for the busy moms, and pretty soon, the goal is to drop some comfortable and stylish athleisure wear!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Absolutely not! This journey, in just a short period, has been challenging. Not only am I a leader in the United States Army, but as mentioned before, I’m a single parent. I made a promise to God and my children that I would do everything I can to be present at all times in their lives! So, a lot of times that means putting my brand- She Her Go- The Brand, LLC- on the back burner until I can give it my 100% attention, even if that means working until 2am.

So, just imagine trying to take all of your ideas that you’ve been brainstorming for the past 10 hours and trying to bring them to life when it’s way past your bedtime. I am an Interior Designer by trade, so creativity and brainstorming comes easy to me; but the hardest thing for me is getting others (ie: manufactures) to help you bring your vision to life. Over the past year, I have learned a different type of patience I never knew existed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
She Her Go was created to empower and motivate busy moms to accomplish more with minimal stress. You will hear me say this a lot! We want to help moms build and maintain a high-functioning and healthy lifestyle because we know that moms want to continue being present in the lives of their loved ones while excelling in their careers and in life! The reality is-Moms are busy women, but we don’t have to be oversaturated with the stressors of life.

She Her Go is a very new brand, but there’s over 16 years of motherhood experience. We are here to provide mommas with practical, motivational, and inspirational tools that will help them stay motivated on this motherhood journey. We want our products to motivate other women to keep going!! Our journals will help with self-expression, stress relief, and positive thinking. Our planners will help build and maintain that work-life balance. And our athleisure wear gives those busy mommas a level of comfort while being fashionably cute and comfortable in the gym and while running errands — or just wear them just because!!!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Definitely owe all praise to God for blessing me with this vision! I’m so grateful for my Mom! She is one of the strongest women I know! She is god-fearing, selfless, a true a faithful woman of God. She is very organized, so I learned a lot about family planning-from an organizational standpoint from her. Her and my dad always pushed me, even when I wanted to quit!

I have military mentors, business mentors, and friends who were basically encouraging me to share my knowledge and experiences with other moms because I made it look flawless. Now, I don’t know about flawless… Hahaha

But seriously, special love to my parents; all of my siblings; family; my Soldiers; From the Heart Church Ministries, Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; my cousin Lou Chavis-of Peace of Lou; Line Sister- Tiffany Jones – of TJL Collection; Business Consultant- Sheena White- of Fiberspace 227; Photographer and Friend-April Lawrence of April Amelia Photography, and Amy Benson of Black Bazaar Honolulu.
