Today we’d like to introduce you to Obiloh II Egu.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It was 2019 Summer, I had just had a very unsuccessful year of high school in more ways than one and decided it was time to start telling myself the truth. I was a very average athlete and I had no real hobbies outside of training. That summer I traveled to Houston to spend time with my father and get a job. There I worked hard and made enough money to finally buy myself a camera in November. It’s all history from there.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It honestly has been a pretty smooth road, I feel like the universe knows that this is what I am meant to do. Obviously, there are trials and tribulations in all aspects of life; but I’d be lying if I acted like I have not loved every second of this!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an artisté, through and through, as of right now though I am primarily known for my photography. I take very colorful and creative portraits of people in all environments: outside, in studio, at events, it doesn’t matter; I can capture anyone anywhere. Although I am still madly in love with photography something that I feel people often overlook is my creative direction, I have creatively directed an entire fashion and almost all of my work. As I always say stay tuned, I still have a lot to create; don’t count me out or put me in a box. I am only 20, my ceiling is not in sight yet.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I am an incredibly adaptable. If I see that something isn’t working or isn’t giving me my desired results, I know to pivot and come up with new plans of action. This trait has allowed me to grow and consistently improve both artistically and in a business sense.
