Today we’d like to introduce you to Niharika.
Hi Niharika, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always wanted to create something of my own and grow in life. In December 2022, I came to the U.S. full of dreams. At first, it felt like a shock, the way of living, the values, even the meaning of friendship were all so different. I felt like I didn’t fit in.
But over time, I met people who became like family to me. I also realized that work becomes so much better when you’re surrounded by good people who support and lift each other. I’ve learned that it’s not hard to make work life easier if we choose to help each other instead of competing or feeling insecure.
Today, I’m proud and happy to be part of a workplace that truly feels like family, where people care about and support one another.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No path in life is ever smooth, especially when you choose the road less traveled. I moved to a new city, in a new state, where I didn’t know anyone. It was my first international journey, and the beginning was full of bumps. At first, everything felt exciting, a new life, new energy. But when reality set in, being away from my family and comfort zone hit me hard.
There were moments of anxiety, and not having enough funds to make the film I was working on was tough. But over time, I realized every challenge was also teaching me something. I was growing and changing every single day. I don’t like to call these moments “struggles.” This is just life. We can choose to sink or to swim, and with time and consistency, things start to heal.
Change is necessary, even when it’s uncomfortable. Whenever I feel I don’t have enough, I remind myself that everyone feels that way sometimes. Not everyone even gets the chance to walk this kind of road. So yes, the road hasn’t been easy, but I’m grateful for my journey.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I started my journey as a writer and director, and I never imagined I’d end up in production. I still write because I want to create stories that carry a message. For example, one of my films was about child abuse, a topic that deeply matters to me. There are many things I see in the world that make me feel sad or shocked, and I want to bring those real issues to light through my work. If I can make even a small difference in someone’s life, I’ll consider myself successful.
While that’s my primary goal, I also enjoy working on film sets as a Production Manager. I’m naturally someone who likes to take care of people, and working in production lets me do that. My team and crew are always my priority. I feel truly grateful to have learned production from Ajay Mohamed, and I’m still learning every day.
I’m not limited to one thing. I love helping wherever I’m needed. When I commit to a project, I give it everything my heart, my time, and my energy. It’s never just work for me; it’s personal.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t overthink, just start. We spend so much time thinking and waiting for the ‘right moment’ that when it passes, we regret not taking action. I’ve made that mistake myself.
Emotions are not a weakness. If you feel like crying, cry. If you need a push, be your own biggest supporter. No one can motivate you better than you can.
Trust yourself. If something isn’t working out but you truly believe in it, keep trying. Your path is yours to create.
One big lesson I’ve learned at 25 is to prioritize myself. When you love, respect, and value yourself, you can achieve anything. Confidence is the most powerful accessory you can wear; the world sees it before anything else.
