Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Porciuncula.
Nate, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always drawn as a kid, I never really started taking it more seriously until a couple of years ago. Around that time I really didn’t have anything else in my life. I wasn’t talking to my family and my friends would almost never come and see me. I lived super far. No girl friend. Drawing was the only thing that gave me a sense of satisfaction. I felt better about myself. It was hard to do that before then. It grew into something that became the most important thing because it was the only thing I had. I’ll always have it. Mankind will fail you eventually. A reason I really rely a lot on Art and God.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve had struggles with life yeah, but never with my art. The bad events are what lead me to art so I’m thankful for it Everything leads to something bigger. I’m supposed to be here doing this. I’m blessed with a creative gene thanks to my mother. I’m built for this stuff baby!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in mixed media painting. I also just started doing tribal tattoos though I’m not super good yet I would say people would know me from doing painting for tattoo trades with alot of super sick tattooers in Southern California. I’m proud of all the cool friends I’ve made along the way. I’m finding my heard. I don’t know what sets me apart from others because I don’t really compare myself to anybody else.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Picking my nose all the time.
