Today we’d like to introduce you to Myrtali Nomicou.
Myrtali, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am originally from Athens, Greece. I studied Musical Theatre in New York at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and I am trying to chase my dreams in LA. Due to covid-19, I am currently in Greece doing THE VOICE which will then help me get an artist visa so that I can continue to follow my dreams in LA.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In this industry, you really have to learn how to have thick skin and be okay when hearing the word no all the time. I think that in order to make it in this industry, you have to learn how to accept yourself and not compare your journey to anyone else but rather trust your hard work and vision and keep going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a performer. I’ve worked as a performer for the last three years and my work has allowed me to travel in places like Spain, Turkey and Cyprus. By performing on the stage, I get to tell someone’s story and that to me is the most important. The thought that someone from the audience can relate and take something back from the performance and think, “oh, I can learn something from this” or just simply be inspired means everything to me.
How do you think about luck?
Luck is very important. Being at the right place in the right moment. But without hard work luck means nothing. I learned that you always have to be ready because great opportunities don’t come often. I also believe that everything happens for a reason and I have faith in my journey.
