Today we’d like to introduce you to Mo Clark
Hi Mo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Started on social media helping increase engagement for various social media groups. The traction gained attention from a local podcaster who felt I would be a great addition to their platform. From there I started my own show and platform DaPostUp.
While interviewing several guests I encounter a local artist by the name of Razi who I established a good friendship with. On his musical journey he needed a little assistance with promoting some of his projects and I stepped up to the challenge.
While working with him and getting him looked for various interviews on different platforms, I began networking and delving in to the world of marketing and promotions. Over the next few years I obtain a certification as a public relations specialist and that opened additional doors for me.
Right now I’m a contributing writer for 4 major publications, digital manager for Upscale Magazine, as well as a publicist. I’ve also established my own media and marketing agency which I’m currently rebranding.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road because working in the industry you have to deal with a lot. Things are always changing. Different personalities, different information, egos, finances, and more.
It can sometimes be hard to find balance and prioritize, but you make a way. There’s always competition and the market can seem oversaturated at times. A business or brand can deal with several struggles, and it can all hit you at one time.
You find a way to navigate and press forward no matter what.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m mostly known for my journalism and media work. I think one thing that sets me apart from others is I’m not looking to exploit anyone. Most times when we are on the red carpet, we have a certain timeframe to ask questions. You have to read the room most times. If you know you don’t have a lot of time, there’s no need to try to get deep and profound in that moment. Hopefully you’ll make a lasting impression with the talent that will allow you to reach back out in the future and get a sit down interview.
What’s next?
Right now I’m taking a personal break to regather my thoughts and shift my focus. I’ve been contemplating relocating and traveling to new areas to network more. I know there are still new faces to meet and new stories to tell.
My goal is to continue sharing people’s stories and their journey. I hope that hearing the stories and testimonies of others inspires someone who feels like they can’t do something, to be able to do the thing they are having doubt about.
