Daily Inspiration: Meet Mo Carpio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mo Carpio.

Hi Mo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I truly believe that the world gets smaller when you surround yourself around the right people. When I was in community college, I had a project to interview someone that has your “dream job”. At the time, I didn’t know what I wanted my dream job to be, all I knew was that I wanted to work with others and be creative. So – I interviewed my friend’s older brother, Derek. He said, “Sometimes, it’s not really about what you know but who you know.” His word of advice has stuck with me to this day. As I look back at all of my previous jobs, they all came from knowing someone within that realm. While I was in business school, I started working at a bikini shop in the heart of Malibu. I was fortunate enough to meet one of the Producers of the Malibu Guitar Festival and volunteered to help with their socials. After graduating and helping MGF for a couple of years, I finally landed a Content Creator position at a film & ad agency based in Malibu. After gaining production and client experience – I knew it was time for something new. Which brings me to where I am today, a Content Producer at Puffco.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth but windy road with small and big hills, lol. I felt that I wasn’t always taken seriously since I am a young woman of color. Certain situations created self-doubt and insecurity. I had to steer myself out of that mindset and expand my connections & skills. With the help of mindfulness classes and mediation – I’ve been able to navigate through these windy roads.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am essentially a dot connector. I love bringing concepts and ideas to life. I am a part of the pre-production, production, and post-production process of a launch. As a ~Virgo~, planning and organizing is something I truly enjoy – hehe. I also make sure that everything is within budget at the highest quality as possible. I currently creative produce for Puffco, an award-winning cannabis tech company based in Los Angeles. I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing team. It’s truly something special when you work for a company that allows you to be your most creative self. Beyond my creative time spent at work, I spend a lot of time making things with my friends and family for the simple love of it. From recording songs to propagating plants, attempting to cook wild dishes, painting on wood, sculpting pottery… there’s a lot of art in the world that truly inspires me to be a better human.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My parents. Both my mom and dad have supported me with my creative endeavors since day one. I am so thankful for the life, love, and support they’ve given me. They truly just want to see me happy doing something that I enjoy. My brothers, Jay & Ed. Simply because they are the coolest people I know. My partner, best friend, and ride or die – Grant. Long long ago, when I was doing background work, he drove me from Ventura County to DTLA for a sharp 6AM call time… well, we were late and missed the call time and I was really bummed. Without hesitation, he turned it into an early morning date and adventured from Downtown to Venice. No matter what the project is, he is always down to help in any way possible. His kindness and patience have helped me so much and without him, I would have crumbled years ago.
