Today we’d like to introduce you to Messina
Messina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Messina began her multifaceted career inspired by a deep love for music and performance, honed through her early years singing and acting in local productions in New Hampshire. At 17, she enlisted in the US Army, a decision that instilled in her the discipline and resilience that would later define her approach to both life and business. After completing her military service, she pursued formal education at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, specializing in Electronic Production and Design with a Voice Principle, which further refined her artistic talents.
Her move to Los Angeles marked a turning point, where she transitioned from aspiring artist to a professional making waves in the entertainment industry. Here, she expanded her repertoire to include acting and modeling, appearing in popular TV shows and movies. Simultaneously, she ventured into entrepreneurship, launching a beauty brand and engaging in various business pursuits, each reflecting her commitment to empowerment and authenticity. Messina’s music, deeply personal and often exploring themes of mental health and resilience, has not only earned her a strong following but also solidified her role as a voice for those facing similar struggles. Today, Messina continues to evolve as an artist and entrepreneur, consistently using her platform to inspire and advocate for change.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
MESSINA’s road to success definitely hasn’t been a walk in the park. She’s had her fair share of really tough times, dealing with intense self-doubt and a struggle with addiction, things that got even tougher given her military background and the pressures that come with it. She’s also been in some pretty toxic relationships that really did a number on her mental health. There were points where things got so dark she even attempted suicide. But here’s where her story turns: MESSINA channeled all that pain into her music, making songs that not only helped her heal but also reached out to others who might be feeling the same way. Her journey through recovery and her openness about her struggles have seriously shaped who she is today—more than just a musician, she’s a voice for those dealing with their own dark times, showing everyone that it’s possible to turn even the deepest struggles into something powerful.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
MESSINA, primarily known as a pop artist, took on a new challenge with her latest project, a country album titled “City Rose.” Venturing into country music allowed her to tap into the storytelling roots of the genre, which perfectly suited the deeply personal themes she wanted to explore. In “City Rose,” MESSINA revisits the raw emotions and turbulent times of her first major heartbreak, a pivotal experience that significantly shaped her emotional landscape.
The album serves as a cathartic release, delving into how the lack of self-love and struggles with self-harm addiction contributed to the end of this relationship. Through her lyrics, MESSINA reflects on the long and often painful journey of moving on and rediscovering herself. This introspection is not only therapeutic for her but also offers relatability for anyone grappling with the lingering shadows of past relationships.
“City Rose” stands out as a raw and honest insight into MESSINA’s past love life, embodying the healing power of music. She writes not just to navigate her own healing but to connect with listeners who have faced similar struggles, making “City Rose” a resonant piece for anyone working through the aftermath of a challenging breakup. This shift to country music highlights MESSINA’s versatility as an artist and underscores her commitment to using her music as a bridge to connect with and support her audience.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
“City Rose” releases later this summer. Aug 16 2024. “Just a few more tweaks, and a little time healing with the final takes of it. It’s a super personal album. It’s going to bring back a lot of dark feelings but facing your past and healing is vital to growth. Also, I hope my ex doesn’t send me a nasty text, wouldn’t be a first time I wrote a song and an ex message me. At least it’s not an F-U album for this ex.”
