Daily Inspiration: Meet Marlana Tucker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlana Tucker.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most recently, the pandemic was definitely a struggle for me and for all of mankind. On the average, there’s always challenges along the way. Especially when you are on the path to greatness. Life has its way of keeping us humble. The most impactful tragedy, not too long ago, I was in a car accident on September 3rd. I could’ve lost my life but I made it out, nothing a few months of physical therapy can’t handle. The incident also gave me so much clarity. Life is short. I changed my perspective on who to keep in my life and who I should not invite into the next season. I received so many downloads and healing words from God. I love wing hits with epiphanies. It happens when God shows me the blessing within the lesson. We have to keep a positive mindset, stay spiritually grounded, and set healthy boundaries throughout all aspects of your life. I am glad that I handle and respond to challenges so much better than I used to, that’s a sure example of my growth. I know I’m going to achieve my goals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m known most for modeling for LA Fashion Week and being a brand ambassador for various brand including Vonte Hair Products & “F_ck Fear” clothing line by Drisana Bakari. The moment I’m most proud of is being published in the front page of the Los Angeles Times (June 19, 2022) for the “Behold: Black in LA” project that was featured on Showtime to celebrate the First National Juneteenth Holiday. In the project and article, I made a speech about how proud I am to be a black woman and mother from Inglewood and how much the culture of LA made a positive impact on some pivotal moments in my life. Dreams do come true because LA Times put me on a billboard on the Beverly Center! It was an amazing feeling to know how far I’ve come and to be chosen to represent a multitude of beautiful people! Currently still in awe to be featured in “Voyage LA” the most famously known magazine in LA! If you’re in here, you’re certified! In the meantime, I also enjoy my day job as Direct Care Staff for a black-owned Mental Health Facility here in the city that houses and rehabilitates youth ages 14 to 18. I love teaching therapeutic painting to the kids at my job. I’m passionate and devoted to helping guide our next generation in the right direction with an emphasis on Mental Health Awareness and self-love.

My next project is underway… Follow my YouTube channel, “Choclit Dollhouse Podcast”. I’m finally developing a new YouTube channel and podcast. The networks are already inquiring. I’ll be hosting the show with some occasional surprise hosts. We’ll tackle some light subjects also serious matters and trade success stories, tea and tips. We’ll chop it up with who’s up next from all around LA! All I can say is our first interview is scheduled with one of our very own, representing my hometown Inglewood, the mayoral candidate, Fredrisha “Sha” Dixon. The Future Mayor is running for mayor of Inglewood! She is a real positive leader, I support her movement! Get out there and vote so Inglewood can be up to some good! Vote Dixon on Election Day November 8th, 2022! I look forward to watching a beautiful 2023.

Altogether I would say I’m different because I’m a renaissance woman, ambitious, resilient, humble, strategic and patience. I am a beautiful, educated black woman. I possess the balance of being soft and strong, divine feminine, wise and a natural-born leader.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Keep God first. Never give up on yourself. Even when the odds are against you, do not give up on your dreams, that’s the point when you need to go into full drive on your vision! Your journey is yours! God gave you your vision because you have a purpose. You have to keep growing, glowing and going! Be consistent, have patience, discipline and faith. It’s easier said than done but it gets better, and it’s worth it! Just deliver and execute. Love yourself, water yourself, and watch yourself blossom. Just like Dorothy in my favorite movie “The Wiz”, with the proper love, the wisdom, the courage, the support and the resources will align along the way. Simply keep the faith, believe in yourself and apply that pressure. I would like to thank my children K & K, my beautiful Mommy, my sisters Kathryn & Stephanie, my brothers Brian and Mike for always praying for me, supporting my dreams and fueling my steps with unconditional love, patience and honor. Also, nist grateful and blessed to be able to be alive to watch them all prosper and grow! There is no greater love than family. I love you all!
