Daily Inspiration: Meet Marivel Sunny Cooper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marivel Sunny Cooper.

Hi Marivel , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Before I begin, I want to share a quick note about my name. Professionally, I am known as Marivel Chang, and I also share my work publicly through social media as Marivel Sunny Cooper. Both names are part of the same journey and purpose.

My journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to service, leadership, and creating meaningful impact. I began my career in the public sector. Over time, I gained extensive experience working with diverse population and communities, always guided by the belief that people come first.

After a long and rewarding career in public service, I transitioned into entrepreneurship with a mission to continue supporting individuals beyond traditional employment systems. That vision led to the creation of Government Workforce Network LLC, a platform designed to connect and empower individuals through opportunity, support, and innovative resources.

At the same time, I expanded into creative ventures that reflect purpose and empowerment, including Branded by Marivel, a handmade jewelry brand built on craftsmanship, identity, and confidence. My work today blends service, creativity, and community-building—helping individuals grow professionally, personally, and economically.

Where I am today is the result of, reinvention, and a commitment to building something greater than myself: a network and brand ecosystem rooted in empowerment, compassion, and lasting impact.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a completely smooth road, and like many meaningful journeys, the challenges have been part of the growth. One of the biggest obstacles was navigating the transition from a long-established career in public service into entrepreneurship. Building something from the ground up requires stepping into uncertainty, learning new systems, and taking risks without the structure of a traditional organization behind you.

Another challenge has been balancing multiple responsibilities while staying mission-focused—creating platforms and brands that serve others while also ensuring long-term sustainability. Whether it’s launching a new organization, building community trust, or developing a creative business, there are constant lessons in patience, persistence, and adaptability.

I’ve also learned that pioneering something new often means overcoming doubt—both external and internal. But each obstacle has strengthened my clarity, resilience, and commitment to creating impact. The struggles along the way have ultimately shaped the purpose behind everything I’m building today: empowering people, creating opportunity, and leading with compassion.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work lives at the intersection of creativity, purpose, and empowerment. I am the founder and creative force behind Branded by Marivel, a handmade jewelry brand built on craftsmanship and individuality. Each piece is designed and handmade in California in limited production, making every collection deeply intentional and personal—not mass produced, but thoughtfully made to carry meaning.

I specialize in creating jewelry that feels like wearable confidence—pieces that reflect strength, beauty, and identity. My designs are inspired by confidence and reinvention, and the idea that what we wear can symbolize who we are becoming.

What I’m most proud of is building a brand that is not only artistic, but rooted in storytelling and impact. My creative work is connected to a larger mission of uplifting others through entrepreneurship, community-building, and service. Through my broader platform, Government Workforce Network LLC, I also support individuals—especially retirees, veterans, and the disabled community—in finding opportunity, visibility, and growth beyond traditional systems. Government Workforce Network LLC offers three (3) Program Initiatives, Paid Services and Free Services as a way of giving back, more information at our website at www.governmentworkforcenetwork.com

What sets me apart is that my creativity is never just about aesthetics—it’s about purpose. Whether through jewelry, storytelling, or community initiatives, my work is centered on helping people feel seen, empowered, and inspired to step into their next chapter.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is people—human dignity, growth, and the ability for individuals to feel seen, supported, and empowered in every season of life. I’ve spent much of my career and creative journey centered around service, and I truly believe that when people are valued first, everything else becomes possible.

I care deeply about creating work that has meaning beyond the surface—whether through building community platforms or designing pieces of jewelry that symbolize confidence and transformation. To me, success isn’t only about building something beautiful or impactful, but about creating something that uplifts others and reminds them of their worth.

What matters most is leaving behind a legacy rooted in compassion, purpose, and opportunity—helping others realize that reinvention is always possible, and that their story still has so much power ahead.
