Daily Inspiration: Meet Liss Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liss Jones.

Liss, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
So I started getting into music from a really young age. At age two, I entered my first talent contest, my dad had to hold the microphone for me cos I was too little! I got 2nd place, and from then I went on to do lots of TV shows from aged 8-12, I had a little break from tv then where I did lots of gigs and had to pretend I was a little bit older so they’d let me sing at the clubs, and from then I did more tv like ‘The Voice’ which was an incredible experience, and now I’m performing all around the world and writing my own music.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anyone has a smooth road really, I was bullied all through school which was quite tough. My parents pulled me out of school for a few months and I was homeschooled until things got better, luckily they did and I went back. I’ve had lots of rejection from different tv shows/record producers etc and it always felt like I was one step forward and four steps back, I think this made me more determined and helped me push through to where I am today.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional vocal impersonator/songwriter. I get to go all around the world and perform on big stages, sometimes impersonations other famous artists’ voices like Celine Dion, Judy Garland, Christina Aguilera, and then I get to perform at festivals singing my own songs that I’ve written. It’s a mixture of live performance and studio writing etc., I love the balance! I’m so proud of my performances on ‘The voice’ and proud of a few of my songs featuring in a movie/Netflix. I am very versatile and will jump into anything new, I have no fear so I think that sets me apart!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
It’s definitely more social media based which I’ve had to adapt to with TikTok and reels, I think it’s going to the virtual world next with the metaverse.
