Daily Inspiration: Meet Lilacx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilacx

Hi Lilacx, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born into a family of musicians, and it was only a matter of time before I took what I was naturally gifted with seriously. My mom a vocalist, percussionist and songwriter owned a music school when I was growing up. She made me take everything we had to offer and said I would thank her some day for it; I do now. By middle school I started experimenting with production using Fl studio. Then by high school I was really into poetry and I listened to a lot of indie rock and singer-songwriters artists. As I grew in age so did my library of music that I enjoyed listening to. I continued to create music along side that growth, and so my own music was constantly evolving. I started out doing folk music if you could believe it and now here I am doing Trap/lofi/RnB. I’ve neutered my own eclectic style and I admit I’m an acquired taste. So much so that In 2019 I became part of a girl group called BLK, we all brought our own individual flair. We were together for 3 years and signed to Believe under Tunecore. It was a hell of a ride and experience; I learned a lot. But like all rides they must come to an end. Taking my new knowledge of being part of a world with 2 other girls, I took my new found strength and experience with me on my path as a solo artist. In the following year of 2023 I tested out the waters to scope out the climate. Now that I know, I’m in hibernation planning my next swim.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey as an artist has had a lot of obstacles thrown in my path. Some I dodged, some I tripped badly on and some I walked through. Several times I was at war with myself. It’s hard doing something for the first time, especially something that a lot of people fail at! My biggest obstacle was often being told that the only way to succeed is to basically….not be myself. Bringing a new perspective, it took a while for anyone else but me to see the view. But my love for my craft has pushed me through these mental blocks.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a jack of all trades, but my biggest passion has always been music. Ever since I transitioned from making music as a hobby to a profession, I’ve tapped into another level of layers. I specialize in saying what’s on your mind and I’m best known for my authenticity, my boundary breaking and my ability to come back from any and everything. I’m quirky, grown and into anime.

My music is a looking glass to so many things I’ve yet to say out loud. They say that you don’t really know someone unless you bother to learn their language. We express ourselves way differently in our native tongue, for me that’s music.

I could talk about specific instances I’m proud of but I’m going to sum it all up to I’m most proud of the fact that even though I may lose myself at the beginning of the day, at the of the day I always find myself again.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
What I’ve taken away from the covid 19 crisis is that anything can be taken away at any moment. As well as I’ve had a lot of time to sit with myself and the things I need to approve on, both personally and professionally.
