Daily Inspiration: Meet Lauren Baum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Baum.

Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After leaving a 15+ year career in advertising at the start of the pandemic, I discovered my love for baking. I started baking challah as a hobby, testing new recipes often and obsessively. I finally landed on one that I loved and made it often. One day a friend said she loved it so much that she would like me to make her a few loaves to take to a party. That was my first official order and thus The Baum Challah was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest obstacle I’ve faced is being able to scale the business while still being present for my family. I’d love to be able to bake more and offer my bread in more locations, however, my two children have been my main focus and they will always take priority over my work until they are a bit older.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I bake craft challahs in a wide variety of flavors. I do everything from a sprinkle to jalapeno cheddar and lots of things in between. I do my best to use only high-quality ingredients, keeping in mind that my kids are going to enjoy this product. My goal has always been to produce a challah that takes like something my grandma would approve of but with a modern twist.
