Daily Inspiration: Meet Kitfox Antone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kitfox Antone.

Kitfox Antone

Hi Kitfox, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey in fashion (school), which led to multimedia (MySpace era). I worked with friends who had started a local agency in Long Beach, where I would jump in on various projects that matched my skillset. Illustration, animation (Flash), light HTML coding, design & layout, etc. That agency also doubled as a record label (not gonna say), but I met a lot of talented musicians and rappers that either blew up or blew away.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Unfortunately, no road (career) in LA is ever smooth. There’s always potholes (in my bank account). But even with stability, I’ll always push myself to evolve and grow until I reach final form. Knowing your worth helps to avoid struggle. If I’m in a relationship (of any kind) and I’m not seeing any return of investment, I’m out! Respectfully and graciously, without burning bridges. Because some roads, you may have to cross those old bridges again. The world is a SMALL place.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, I’m in Creative Director mode at a global agency where I’m considered a “unicorn creative.” My background consists of fashion (design/merchandising), illustration, motion design, art direction and overall vibe inspector. My indigenous upbringing keeps me humble and empathic to those without voice or representation. As Creative Director, my job is to champion junior talent. Mentor and listen to all perspectives. This allows for my teams to feel seen and heard and makes the work much more fun and exciting. I’ll take the all that energy and turn it into a 360 campaign, where everyone shows up in final copy or art. Everyone gets their flowers!

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Agency life is very hectic at the moment. With the fluctuating economy, politicization of certain platforms, the evolution or restrictions of other platforms, and AI integration… many brands are cutting back on ad spends and taking creative in-house. This has been a trend for the past few years, and now it’s time to start thinking small.

We’ll start to see smaller niche agencies specializing in content geared for target audiences. Those markets (Gen-Z) want authentic and relatable content with a DIY vibe. This is where I see the market turning. Smaller budgets with larger returns.
