Daily Inspiration: Meet Kisha Waters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kisha Waters.

Kisha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
“I actually started out with a passion for creativity and events. Early on, I was fascinated by how fashion shows come together behind the scenes — the styling, timing, lighting, and the overall production. I began volunteering at local shows and assisting with model coordination, which gave me hands-on experience in everything from casting to runway management.
As I built relationships in the industry, I moved into producing my own shows and collaborating with designers to bring their visions to life. Over time, I developed a reputation for creating high-quality, seamless productions that not only showcase the clothes but also tell a story. Today, I run full-scale fashion events, managing everything from casting and backstage operations to media coordination. It’s been an incredible journey of growth, networking, and learning every aspect of the business from the ground up.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I think that’s what makes the journey worthwhile. In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was getting people to take me seriously without a big name or budget behind me. I had to prove myself by working twice as hard and being resourceful with limited resources.
Another struggle was learning to balance all the moving pieces models, designers, venues, media and still deliver a polished show under pressure. There were times when things didn’t go as planned, and I had to think on my feet to find solutions in the moment.
But every challenge taught me something. Those obstacles pushed me to become more resilient, build stronger relationships, and refine my skills. Looking back, the struggles really shaped the way I operate today with patience, persistence, and a focus on turning challenges into opportunities.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is rooted in producing fashion events that are more than just runway shows. I create experiences. I specialize in casting, model development, show production, and building platforms that highlight both emerging and established designers. What I’m most known for is bringing structure, creativity, and storytelling to fashion productions so that every show feels cohesive and memorable.
I have had designers who started with me go on to design for artists like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Shakira. I have also had models who no other productions were working with, but once they joined The Movement LA, they went on to walk in Paris, Milan, and New York. I am extremely proud of each and every one of them.
What sets me apart is that I understand both sides of the industry: the artistic vision and the business behind it. I know how to manage logistics, but I also know how to create a moment that moves an audience. I pour passion into every detail, and I think people feel that when they experience one of my shows.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that many people don’t know about me is that I didn’t come into this industry with formal training or a big network. I built my path from the ground up through persistence, resourcefulness, and a genuine love for creating platforms for others.
Another thing people might not realize is how hands-on I am. Even though I run full-scale productions, I’m deeply involved in every detail, from casting models to making sure the lights hit the runway just right. I think that surprises people because they often expect someone at my level to only oversee, but I believe being hands-on is what keeps my shows authentic and impactful.
