Today we’d like to introduce you to Khatuna Khrikadze

Hi KHATUNA, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is khatuna khrikadze. I am from Georgia ,but I live in New York now. My first visit in NEW yORK was in 2019 for several month then in 2020 also for for several monts and now I stayed here since 2023. I am an Enamelist. I work on Silva cloisonne enamel and make some kind of jewelery like hairpins, braclets, rings, earings, necklasies. Here I met very famouse enamelist Mira Jedwabnik Van doren who supported me to open workshop in her building and with her helo I bagan here making my own bussinness. to make my dream true. I opened my company named “‘NaNiKa” which is a combination of the fisrt and last letters of my children’s names :Naka-na, Ninia-ni,Zuka-ka. I also making hand made soaps, candales, vases with with epoxy and ceramic. All my products are avalable on my website www.nanika.com.ge

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At the begining nothing is easy in foreign country. It took a long time of my energy to settle everything to begin my workshop perfectly, but I am very thankful of the people and my friends who did not give me chance to give up. I also believe that nothing is impossible. Hard working and learning new skills has no age.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For more then 28 years I used to work as an Sales Agent In travel agency, in TBILISI,GEORGIA. As an Enamelist I began working in 2017. My friend was already doing beautiful silva cloisonne enamel and I began study with her. It changed all my life. I was poisoned with this incredible art. In her workshop day and night we used to create Silva cloissonne enamel jewelary and used to send them to Ukrain and many different georgian gallary magazines for sale. I finished collage in Tbilisi and studied there enameling. I had also several exhabitions in Georgia. I also finished enamel courses in New York where I learned different style of working and skills of enameling on copper which helps me in my art pieces to be different.
I am a member of the Georgian Heritage Crafts Association since 2017. Georgian Heritage Craft Association (GHCA) was founded in 2015 as an advocacy body for the craft sector in Georgia. The Association has grown and currently has 350 members.
I am a member of prestigious organizations such as the International Association of Art (IAA-USA), the Enamelist Society, the Enamel Guild North East USA, the American Craft Council, and the American Folk Art Museum since 2024.

I can say that the main hobby of my life was and still is ART. It gives me pease of mind, when I create something interesting, my days are much more beautiful and creative. I am blessed, as my kids have this talant too. In Georgia I finished collage whare

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
All my jewelries are very colorful. They are different from each other. I think that only I make copper enamel hairpins. All my costomers love them. I try to make Silva cloisonne enamel with Georgian ornaments. My favourite simbols are grapes, flowers.leaves.
