Today we’d like to introduce you to Khalil-Lullah Ballentine.
Hi Khalil-Lullah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story is still being written to start, but that’s like everyone’s because they never truly end. I’ve gotten to this point by constantly learning. I started my journey I guess through a curiosity of baseball and how the game looked on TV. That turned into me loving the storytelling of the game when I listened on the radio, and I realized that it’s all about talking. This made me look at journalism as a way of communicating with and to people, and that’s been how I’ve viewed the medium since. So in my photography now and the videos I create, I want to be able to talk and communicate with the audience with the work I produce and the best way I know how to do that is by learning about the who and what I am capturing
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for me to this point. Since my hs graduation day, I’ve lost 5 family members, and 2 friends I graduated from hs with. That’s not to mention all the people I lost during high school. Of course there are smaller challenges, but the losses are the ones that I’ve struggled with the most
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my photography and videography skills. For my photography, people mostly see me in sports taking pictures at the games, but where I am able to be most creative is in my videography where I am able to direct and plan out shoots to help people’s visions come alive.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The best way that I have found to outsource my development has been looking on YouTube or looking up different photographers doing the same things that I am trying to do
