Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Ackad.
Kevin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It was 2010 and I was living… I had a high-paying corporate career, lots of friends, an amazing social life filled with “recreational fun” until one day, I began to feel as though my life had ZERO meaning, substance, or depth. I felt like a hamster on a wheel, sharing a large cage with a bunch of other hamsters and their wheels.
Soon my recreational indulgences became a BIG problem, leaving me addicted to illicit substances, depressed, and even in trouble with the law. I found myself out of control and knocking on death’s door when a cocaine overdose nearly killed me. As my vision was closing, I called out to God and my life was instantly spared. In the aftermath of this miraculous event, it became evident that something had to change.
Battling the voices of insecurity, regret and fear… my desire to be happy and fulfilled took over, and I was directed to an intuitive card reader who told me that I was meant to be a “healer”. The look of confusion on my face was enough for her to start giving me some examples to contemplate.
Being a healthy skeptic, I kept asking other intuitive people to see if they would offer something different… something that made sense… for me. Needless to say, that was not the case.
The 4th and final intuitive (a VERY well-known, internationally recognized intuitive) was giving a talk at a bookstore and decided to “read” 4 random people in the audience. I and 3 other lucky souls were chosen in a crowd of over 40 people.
I asked her a vague question: “Am I supposed to be doing what I am doing now, or something else?” Her response while comical, was as vague as my question, until she finally blurted out, “You know you’re a healer, right?!?!”
That statement led to my first emotional catharsis. For the first time, I FELT it to be true and began to weep uncontrollably in front of a bunch of strangers. As the tears poured from my eyes, energy coursed through my body with a force that left me shaking for some time.
As I spent the next few months seeking clarity on the type of healer I was to become, I was synchronistically led to explore Energy Healing, Angelic Communication, and Medical Massage.
Eagerly completing my studies in Medical Massage, Angelic Spiritual Counseling, and reaching Reiki Master level, I was ready to begin my life’s work. However, after being rejected by almost every spa in a 20 mile radius, I was left with no choice but to start my own healing and massage practice. So, on May 1st, 2012 Inner Shift Healing (previously On The Table) was born, and quickly rose to the #1 rated healing massage practice in Los Angeles. Still is.
Since then, I have been witness to many miraculous and supernatural events including: encounters with angels and other loving spirits; waking visions; channeling; spirit-overlay; levitation; entity removals; out of body experiences (OBE’s); disembodied voices; lucid dreaming: astral travel; past life memories; visitations from holy figures and gurus; and much more that defy science, logic and reason. Thankfully, these events also deepened my faith and connection to the Divine.
These experiences since my initial awakening have helped me to peek beyond the veil of our current existence and completely shift my life into one of passion, purpose, and healing.
I now TRULY believe that through God… ALL things are possible… and I look forward to helping others create major shifts in their lives that allow for greater happiness, health, prosperity and love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road?!?! Anything but!! When I enrolled in Massage school, I was also struggling in my career. I had just been elevated to Retail Marketing Manager, however the department had just lost its entire team in a slew of unexpected resignations. So, in addition to Massage school at night i also had to teach myself my new role with very little support fro the already struggling marketing department.
As if that wasn’t enough to drive a person mad, I was also taking mandatory drug diversion classes due to my recent arrest, enrolled in a debt negotiation program to assist with the nearly $40,000 of credit card debt I racked up due to my drug habits, all while learning how to sense and heal energy in the Reiki Classes I enrolled in.
Twelve-hour days, coupled with 4 hours of night classes, and topped with homework and studies, left very little time for sleep, let alone the time to figure out how to start my practice or even find a studio. Everything was a struggle. Even when I finally found a studio, I had to find a way to promote, market, and sell my service, “competing” with at least 30 other massage practices within a 10-mile radius. There’s much more to share, but it’s beginning to sound like a bit of a sob story. Don’t cry for me, though!
I believe this world is meant to be challenging because challenges are what lead to growth. If you tried to pry open a chrysalis before the butterfly pushed its own way out, the butterfly would not have the wing strength to fly after it emerged. It reminds me of a quote I once heard, “Growth doesn’t happen in your comfort zone”.
For anyone who has tried to gain muscle, we know that we can’t increase muscle mass by lifting light weights. We need resistance, and this world has the perfect amount of resistance to either crush us or expand us. Ultimately, the choice is ours. Obviously, I chose expansion, and I hope you continue to also.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The work has undergone considerable evolution over the past 15 years. It’s bound to happen as one continually expands past their boundaries. It began with Medical Massage, Reiki, and Angelic Communication, aiming to heal and inspire my clients, and eventually expanded to include many other energy healing modalities, Breathwork, Spiritual Counseling, and Breakthrough Coaching.
Initially, I was excited to heal as many people as possible, on a mission to change the world. The next stage of my personal and professional evolution began when I came across a quote from a 13th-century Persian poet and mystic named Rumi: “Yesterday I was clever, and wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”
With the evolution of my mindset and work, my intentions quickly followed. After taming the mini-messianic complex I had developed, I began to empower my clients to heal themselves, instead of trying to heal them myself. It fit perfectly with the message my angels delivered years earlier, “Kevin, your job is to make your job… obsolete.” They were telling me that I was to begin teaching people how to heal themselves. I realized that I had to walk that path myself first, and the deeper work began.
In 2018, I learned how to access my subconscious mind and began the process of healing my conditioning, patterns, and illogical stories born of my childhood wounds. These wounds were the cause of my unconscious, unhealthy emotional reactivity. As I deepened my research, it became evident that everyone has wounds from their childhood that need attention and healing, so this became the focus of my work with clients who wanted to heal on the deepest levels.
This year, I am SUPER excited to release my first book, entitled “Inner Child Healing Breakthrough,” where I share the tools I have learned to help people master their emotions, transform their trauma, increase their self-worth, and build authentic, healthy relationships with themselves and others. I am self-publishing and plan to launch in January of 2026.
This Breakthrough will educate and empower readers to become their own therapists, utilizing their personal awareness to heal themselves in real-time. What sets me apart from other healers and professionals is that I am not trying to increase my client base, but rather empower my clients to heal themselves.
I studied business at USC, but I am not a traditional businessman. For me, it’s less about the money and more about shifting consciousness so we can all evolve… together.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, EVERYTHING is going to change, not just in my field of practice but in our entire world. The technologies of AI, Virtual Reality, Robotics, and other forms of automation, as well as digital communication and virtual connections, are poised to transform the way we live our lives entirely. The changes have already begun, but it is essential to understand that as we move farther and farther away from harmony with nature, maintaining our own inner harmony will become increasingly challenging as well.
I believe that this trajectory will create more space for spiritual practices such as energy healing, breathwork, meditation, sound healing, and other forms of frequency and vibrational healing. Currently, these practices are viewed as a luxury. However, as we continue to move further out of balance, they will become a necessity as we attempt to return to a state of inner peace and harmony with nature, and our true nature… Spirit.
