Daily Inspiration: Meet Karissa Lorinne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karissa Lorinne.

Hi Karissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started by attending Empire Academy of Makeup in Costa Mesa while also working full-time at a restaurant and going to college at Cal State Fullerton. I quickly realized how much I loved doing bridal makeup and how rewarding it is to make a bride feel her best on her wedding day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While I do feel like my career has been pretty smooth, there are of course challenges along the way. I once had a bride make me cry at her preview, and that was when I learned I won’t always make everyone happy no matter how hard I try. Some people have challenges within themselves that they project onto others. Long story short, that bride ended up doing her own makeup and even made her hairstylist cry on her wedding day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a professionally trained makeup artist who specializes in weddings. While most of my clients hire me to do more natural makeup looks, my favorite thing to do is full glam. I love the transformation of a full glam make look, and it’s so fun!

What sets me apart from other bridal makeup artists is my experience in other areas of makeup. I’ve worked in print as well as film. My work has been published numerous times and credited on IMDB, and I’m really proud of that.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m a total nerd! I love video games and have been really into anime lately. My favorite video games are anything Super Mario, The Last of Us (1 and 2), The Witcher III Wild Hunt, and Horizon Zero Dawn. My favorite anime’s are Death Note and Attack on Titan.
