Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Of Milking Out
Hi Joy of Milking Out, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It started one day as a joke; we saw a “got milk?” ad that mentioned “JOMO”. We tried to formulate what it stood for and one of us said “maybe it’s the Joy of Milking Out”. We all agreed that it had to be that. After that, Evan had drank multiple dairy products in a row and told us he was “creaming out”. Following that day, it became an intimate inside joke between the three of us. We began to talk about being milk sommeliers and rating milks we drank. Things started to get more serious and pick up and we began to talk about posting our milk reviews in order to inform others of our research. That’s how we’re here today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Unlike the smoothness of the milk we so rabidly consume, the road has been treacherous and difficult. We have faced intolerances, both lactose related and amongst our peers. People have judged us HARSHLY for our love of milk, with snide remarks being made toward us. It has been the most rewarding, but also the most humbling of passions. We have overcome this hatred, by turning towards the love we have for each other and for milk.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We review and rate milks, produced both in the US and abroad. We analyze the textures, flavors, composition, aroma, viscosity, and colors of milks. This is something that has never been done before. No one is testing and reviewing milks like we are. We have delved into a very specific niche that has never before been explored. We believe that people deserve to know which milks are the best, with information from unbiased, unsponsored, and unadulterated reviewers. We wish to bring this crucial research and information to the masses so that others might also experience the “Joy of Milking Out”.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
We are grateful to have found kindred souls in other milk enjoyers on social media, and we continue to network in person among family and friends. While we have yet to find mentors, we rest assured knowing that our current supporters trust us to guide their next foray into the world of dairy. Honestly, we have not set aside much time solely to networking; we have noticed that being part of such a small community makes it easy to make friends. After all, we already know our common ground. Our fellow milkers have been nothing but welcoming, and we hope to extend that attitude to any future milkers we might inspire.
