Daily Inspiration: Meet Joon Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joon Park.

Hi Joon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is one of resilience and discovery. After moving to the U.S. from South Korea, I spent years balancing labor-intensive shifts with my studies—a challenging chapter that built the work ethic I carry today. Though I started my career in the design industry, a single, powerful image redirected my path toward photography.
That encounter changed everything. It led me to leave the corporate world to capture what truly matters: the authentic, joyful milestones of weddings and engagements. Between these celebrations, I find balance through street photography, documenting the world as I see it. Today, I am proud to turn my life’s challenges into a gift for others—preserving their most precious stories through my lens.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been an easy journey.
Due to financial difficulties at home, I had to be the breadwinner for my own education.
My days were a relentless cycle: attending classes and completing assignments from morning to afternoon, then working late-night shifts until dawn. I survived on just four hours of sleep, split into two-hour naps. It was physically exhausting, but it taught me resilience.
Even later, while working a corporate job, I realized that while routine tasks felt draining, photography was the one thing that always gave me life and joy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I believe every couple has a unique story, and my mission is to capture those stories through my lens.
I primarily photograph weddings and engagements—moments where happiness is at its peak. This positive atmosphere fuels my creativity and helps me document the most natural, radiant versions of my clients.
I take great pride in being the person who freezes these joyful memories in time.
My specialty lies in capturing the ‘good energy’ of the moment, ensuring that every time you look at your photos, you feel that same warmth all over again.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe luck is the invisible hand that sketched the outlines of my life. I didn’t choose the humble beginnings of my family, nor did I choose my immigration to the United States; I simply followed the path laid out by my parents. Even my career began with a fleeting glance at a single photograph and a chance invitation to a wedding.
People often emphasize the power of ‘choice,’ but I believe those choices are only possible because of the beautiful coincidences that precede them. I am like a sailor who didn’t create the wind, but learned how to set my sails to it. My life and my business are the results of embracing those unexpected winds.
