Daily Inspiration: Meet Joel Woodside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Woodside.

Hi Joel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all began with lifeguarding—seeing firsthand how many people lacked access to proper swim education sparked the idea. From there, we built a team and created a structured approach to our lesson plans, focused on results and impact. As we grew, we made it a priority to ensure every instructor shared our passion for excellence and our mission of delivering top-quality service.
What started with swim lessons for all ages—beginning as early as six months—quickly expanded. We began providing certified lifeguards for parties and events, and soon after, added DJ, karaoke, yoga, and photobooth services. Each new addition allowed us to connect with more people and deliver memorable experiences beyond the pool.
After one of our strongest years yet, we’re continuing to grow and evolve—focused on reaching even more families, creating opportunities, and changing lives through what we do.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has been a learning opportunity. Since COVID, we’ve been fortunate to grow into a year-round operation—something that once felt out of reach. Still, as with any growing business, we’ve faced our share of hurdles. One of the biggest has been scaling the team with the right people—those who not only have the skills but also the mindset to support long-term growth. Finding that balance has been key to avoiding setbacks tied to inexperience or lack of alignment, and it’s ultimately made us stronger and more prepared for the future.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in teaching swimmers of all ages—starting as young as 1.5 years old—to swim and learn essential survival skills. Many of our students are able to float on their backs and save themselves within just 12 lessons, with some achieving this as early as 5 lessons. Our journey began with teaching children with special needs, and through our success, we’ve grown to serve swimmers of all ages and abilities. Following a tragic incident in Florida, we were invited by WFLA Channel 8 News to share our expertise on drowning prevention, survival techniques, and safe swimming practices. After moments like this, our exposure has grown—allowing us to reach more swimmers and non-swimmers alike, helping everyone stay safe in and around the water.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
