Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Kozakowski
Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began on Long Island, New York, where I was born, raised and first ventured into the world of social media through portrait modeling back in 2014. This sparked a deep passion for digital engagement and community-building. Seeking to enhance my expertise, I relocated to Los Angeles in 2016 to pursue a graduate degree in consumer psychology at USC, a field that perfectly complemented my growing interest in social media trends and behaviors.
Over the past nine years, I’ve immersed myself in the dynamic world of social media, honing my skills as a social media professional. Currently, I lead social strategy at an advertising agency. In addition to this role, I am also a lifestyle content creator.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but every challenge has been a valuable part of the journey. Moving from Long Island to Los Angeles was a big leap, and while it was exciting, it came with its own set of hurdles. Adapting to a new city, finding my footing in a competitive industry, and balancing grad school was a significant adjustment. There were moments of self-doubt and frustration, especially when facing rejection or setbacks in my early days.
Another challenge came from staying ahead in the rapidly evolving world of social media. The industry moves at lightning speed, and keeping up with the latest trends, tools, and algorithms while maintaining a high standard of work required constant learning and adaptation. It wasn’t always easy to balance innovation with consistency.
However, these obstacles taught me resilience and resourcefulness. Each challenge provided an opportunity to learn and grow, and overcoming them has made the successes even more rewarding. Today, I’m grateful for those tough times because they’ve shaped who I am and how I approach my work. Embracing the ups and downs has been an essential part of my journey, and it’s driven me to continuously push boundaries and strive for excellence in everything I do.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my current role, I lead social strategy at an advertising agency, where I specialize in developing strategies that not only drive engagement and brand awareness but also deliver measurable results. From analyzing trends and audience behaviors to creating compelling content and optimizing performance, my work is all about creating meaningful connections between brands and their audiences.
What sets me apart is my unique combination of skills and experiences. My background in consumer psychology gives me a deep understanding of how people think and behave online, which enhances my ability to craft strategies that are both innovative and effective. Additionally, my experience as a lifestyle content creator adds a creative edge to my work, allowing me to approach social media from multiple angles and create content that truly stands out.
I’m also known for my ability to stay ahead of trends and adapt quickly in the fast-paced world of social media. Whether it’s embracing new technologies, exploring emerging platforms, or navigating shifts in consumer behavior, I’m always on the lookout for ways to push the envelope and deliver fresh, engaging experiences.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor and building a network is all about genuine connections. I’ve found that being authentic and specific in your approach really makes a difference. Engaging in industry events has also been a game-changer for me. These events are great for meeting new people who share your interests. Beyond in-person events, online networks and communities are fantastic for connecting with people. Engaging in these spaces can open doors to new opportunities and relationships.
