Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Popeski & Jeffrey Blyseth.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Axis Studios was founded in 2001 as a response to the explosion of new, exciting interactive content online. We got our start in the entertainment space, building websites for movie and DVD releases, and then spread into the production and post-production space, creating interactive websites, games, and interactive content for film, tv, and production studios. It was an incredibly fun time to be creating online. Within a couple years, we naturally moved into the advertising space, developing microsites and campaigns for brands, gaming companies, and studios, including PlayStation, Disney, and Fox Home Entertainment.
As our business evolved, we began collaborating more closely with large ad agencies, producing interactive and animated content for online ads, out-of-home, and social campaigns as digital media expanded. On the web development side, we grew into a full-service boutique agency offering branding, design, packaging, ecommerce, and digital marketing, serving clients who wanted end-to-end support with a more intimate level of collaboration.
We place a strong focus on building long-lasting, trusted relationships with our clients, and on providing the highest level of service and responsiveness. We also take great pride in helping our clients elevate their projects and push the work further than they thought possible. Our years of experience have given us a deep understanding of the digital space and the ability to bring something fresh that clients may not have thought of…or perhaps didn’t think was possible; something that makes everyone excited and helps a brand connect even more meaningfully with their audience.
We’ve had the opportunity to work with many of the top companies, ad agencies, and brands over the years, Axis has successfully and prolifically produced work for brands and companies such as Activistion, Anthem/Blue Cross, Epson, HTC phones, Honda, PlayStation, Stand Up To Cancer, Subway, Wells Fargo, YellowPages, Disney, DreamWorks, Fox, Sony, WB, and many more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are always obstacles and challenges. Sometimes you have to ask if the road was perfectly smooth would you know you’re even on it? Changing technology has always been a challenge. The transition from DVDs to streaming, The introduction of the iPhone, and then Android, Flash to HTML5, video formats, desktop-centric content to mobile, and influencer/social media advertising have all been changes the advertising industry has needed to react to. And it’s not stopping, the more recent advent of AI is affecting every part of our world, and advertising and production are front and center.
The one thing that hasn’t gone away is the fun. We absolutely love being creative and working with incredible creative partners, and bringing creative solutions to business challenges is just as important as helping clients to find and express their voice in ways that continue to connect.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
This was more or less outlined in our history overview, but if I had to distill it down to one thing, I would say that our ability to plus up creative and development is what sets us apart. And of course hand-in-hand with this is our intense focus on really hearing our clients and translating their vision into next level production.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Every business has the same challenges when you break it down. How do we adapt to an ever-changing landscape, remain relevant, and continue to serve our work in ways that delight, create success, and make our clients look good. The key for us has and continues to be always having fun, working with people you like, and staying curious.
