Today we’d like to introduce you to Itzy Martinez.
Hi Itzy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started dancing 16 years ago in my hometown Guadalajara, I started taking jazz classes because I was very interested in learning how to dance and do splits and never imagined that I would find my biggest and most rewarding passion in my life. I haven’t stopped dancing since then, I started learning and training about other styles like contemporary dance, some ballet, aerial dance, hip hop, Latin rhythms, acro and more…
And I just kept falling in love with each style. My 12 years old version never imagined that dance would be my lifestyle and what has allowed me to travel, move to a different country, and experience a lot of challenges but also very good moments with amazing people.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not a smooth road but a very blessed one. Dancing is a very competitive environment, you have to protect yourself so much, especially your mental health, but the reward at the end of the road (or every class, rehearsal, show, etc) it’s just very fulfilling.
In my case moving to a different country has been a huge challenge, coming to a city full of very talented dancers from all over the world and not knowing anyone, finding a way to start connecting with people, and also surviving in a city like LA has not been easy at all, but along my way, I have met such kind people.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a professional dancer, I consider myself a versatile and very energetic, passionate dancer and that’s what makes me special, also I’m a dance teacher and choreographer, I love bringing peoples’ visions or ideas to life for any kind of event, music videos, etc.
What do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in “good or bad luck” what I believe is that hard work and good intentions behind it It’s what will take you wherever you want to be.
