Daily Inspiration: Meet Itzi Calle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Itzi Calle

Hi Itzi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Itzi Calle, Spanish Creative director based in New York. Itzi found artistic inspiration in the vibrant blend of art-nouveau, eclecticism, and innovation that defines Barcelona, her hometown. With a background in psychology and photography, her journey into the world of fashion began while pursuing photography, when she was hired by the renowned retailer MANGO. Immersed in the dynamic fashion industry, Itzi played a pivotal role in building and launching MANGO’s e-commerce platform, which ignited her enduring new passion. She specialized in conceptualizing and art directing photo shoots. With a keen eye for visual aesthetics and a dedication to storytelling, Itzi is an innovative artist who effectively communicates a brand’s essence.

In 2015, Itzi moved to New York to further her dream of creative direction on an international scale. She joined Vice Iberia, documenting various events over the following years. For Itzi, art direction went beyond a career; it’s her passion. She has a keen eye for visual aesthetics, which she brings to every project and client, ensuring that each endeavor is infused with a unique sense of style and creativity.

Currently, Itzi is embarking on an exciting new project, assisting New York brands in revolutionizing their e-commerce presence. She serves as the Creative Director for Female Form, a retailer with three locations in New York City, and Ringland, which has one location. Her work continues to showcase her exceptional ability to blend art and commerce, making her a key influencer in the fashion industry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve always been very ambitious. When I was working at MANGO, I discovered while shooting with Judith Andic for Mango Premium that I wanted to do creative direction for media and brands. I was in my early twenties and determined to move to Paris. But on one of my trips to Paris, I met an American girl, and she convinced me to take a trip to New York. I fell in love with the city and decided to move here right away. Everything started happening after that. While working for Vice Iberia I discovered New York City and a new world opened to me, a different culture, a different context, a place where I could stand out.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a Creative Director I love telling stories through text and images. I create concepts that get to people and inspire them to be themselves. I shoot for renowned brands like MANGO, STRADIVARIUS, TOMMY HILFIGHER and BERSHKA. I’ve been part of editorials for magazines like HARPER’S BAZAAR, L’OFFICIEL, VEIN, SICKY, etc. I am so proud to now be able to be Creative Director of Female Form, a retail company that launched in 2019 and now has 3 retail locations in NYC. I’m also behind Ringland’s creative team, who recently opened their first retail location this past December in Williamsburg.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
After years of experience I really enjoy being able to fully trust my eye and myself and express through what feels authentic, genuine to me. This month I am doing my first solo exhibition at SWIM CLUB Gallery in Williamsburg. It opens Aug 22nd and it runs until Sept 22nd.
