Today we’d like to introduce you to Howard Baron.
Hi Howard, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got started as myself. My father and my brother were working doing other things. My father was working for a drapery company selling replacement draperies to apartment owners and management companies. He was tired of working for another person and asked my brother and myself to start our own company to do the same with draperies. We eventually started bidding and selling window coverings to builders and contractors that were doing new apartment complexes and condiminiums and began making our own draperies and purchasing large quantities of mini blinds and fabricating our own verticals.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our business became actually easier as we learned how to read plans and bid on larger projects. Only time it was a little difficult was when we closed up our business and I continued in the plantation shutters business on my own. Due to the fact that I now had to create and sell to stores, decorator and interior designers.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What is like now about my work is i am able to sell window coverings to the consumer at their homes and offices without having very little overhead. No employees, no office(all outside location selling)
I now specialize in Plantstion Shutters, all types of blinds and all types of shades. Specifically motorized remote controlled products. I’m am mostly known for my referrals and my pricing is very competitive and lower than most all other businesses, due to me checking the pricing from all other competitors regularly. In order to keep my prices lower.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Referrals is the luckiest thing in my business, as many clients and customers are very satisfied and happy with my products, my installers and time of delivery.
