Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Calvin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Started at the Lake Merritt in Oakland CA and was selling to all the locals. The day I sold I made $800 in one day so I went back out on Sunday and it was the same result.
G’nana just in a product it’s an experience through what I create and experiencing it with me and all my loved ones.
The name G’nana came about in 2020 when my son was in the kitchen with me and ask for him to grab me a banana and he said Nana his name is Gianni and call him G for short so I put it together and came up with G’nana Pudding.
I have over 9 different flavors and I just want to be able to expand my business throughout not just CA but the throughout the whole United States one day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggles of any small black business is scaling and getting funding to expand my business and be comfortable to give opportunities to not just my friends but upcoming entrepreneurs.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently I have battled with the ups and downs of keeping s 9-5 but I always had my business to fall back on. I’m most proud of just being a black man that’s trying to do things the right way and not get over on others while I figure out my life.
How do you think about happiness?
Being with my loved ones especially by son and dog. The love that they display is very unconditional and teaches how to show in other areas of my life as well.
