Daily Inspiration: Meet GothemV

Today we’d like to introduce you to GothemV.

Hi GothemV, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been involved with music my entire life. I began writing songs at the age of 8, and haven’t looked back since, frequently rapping around my family and friends. There are multiple musicians within my family, so inspiration to create musically came quickly at an early age. Growing up, my father played any and every instrument I could think of, while also being an instructor. This made it easy for me to take a liking into the world of music. I was always taller than the majority of my peers, so naturally I began to play basketball and for a while, I thought that hoop was the path for me. It wasn’t until I came across a shoulder injury while playing at Chico State University, that I began to see that this, in fact, was not the case.

After getting surgery on my shoulder, I spent many hours alone during the rehabilitation process, countless hours that were dedicated towards getting healthy and of course, making music. This time that I spent in isolation allowed me to see my true purpose in this life, which is being an artist. I then began to build my brand and pursue a full-time career as a musician. Music comes naturally for me and is a great outlet for me to authentically express myself in a way that is unique to me as an individual. It was also during this time that I dropped my first project, “Breakout Season”, and began to put people on notice. It became clear that music is in fact the path for me, doing what I love to do every day. I take great pride in perfecting my craft on and off the stage.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has not been a smooth road by any means of the stretch. Another big component of my purpose is breaking the cycle in my family.” Coming up from South Central Los Angeles where I was raised, it takes a great deal of confidence and self-belief to make it out. I had to spend many hours looking deep within to gather up the strength required to forge my own path to success. This in and of itself is a process, a process that takes a lot of deep work but in my opinion is worth it 10/10. Hopefully. through my actions, I’ll inspire millions to do the same.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am first and foremost an artist, while also being a songwriter and producer. I also love my ability to perform, as I am always looking for opportunities to get on stage. On the stage is where I feel free to be myself to the fullest, where I make all the rules and control the vibe. My music has no specific genre, it’s just what I feel in that moment in time.
