Daily Inspiration: Meet Gabriel Gahesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Gahesa.

Hi Gabriel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in the outskirts of São Paulo, Brazil — a place that taught me creativity, resilience, and how to turn limitations into opportunities. Growing up surrounded by the raw energy of the city inspired me to express myself visually, and that’s where design first found me.

I started experimenting with graphic design and visual storytelling on my own, creating personal projects that slowly evolved into collaborations. Over time, my curiosity and persistence opened doors to work with artists and brands from all around the world — names like Beyoncé, David Guetta, Madison Beer, Luísa Sonza, Adidas, and Netflix.

Those experiences shaped my understanding of what visual communication can do — how design connects cultures, music, and identity. What began as a passion for creating images has grown into a career in art direction and design, where I now focus on crafting visuals that are both conceptually strong and emotionally resonant.

Today, I continue to push my creative boundaries, working across music, fashion, and culture, always bringing a piece of São Paulo’s energy with me wherever I go.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
t definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Growing up in the outskirts of São Paulo meant starting with limited access to opportunities, resources, and connections in the creative industry. I had to teach myself almost everything — from design tools to how to build a portfolio and reach international clients.

In the beginning, it was a constant battle against self-doubt and invisibility. There were times when I felt like talent alone wasn’t enough — that no one was watching or that the creative world was too far from where I stood. But I learned to use that feeling as fuel. Every challenge became a reason to improve, to stay consistent, and to make my work speak louder than my circumstances.

Working with global artists and brands didn’t happen overnight. It took years of persistence, rejection, and learning how to navigate between creativity and survival. But those struggles gave me perspective — they taught me to value authenticity, hard work, and the power of building something from the ground up.

So no, it wasn’t a smooth road — but that’s exactly what made the journey worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work as an art director and designer, focusing on visual storytelling that connects music, culture, and identity. My projects often live between the worlds of art and sound — creating visuals that don’t just illustrate, but feel like part of the music or story they represent.

I’ve had the chance to collaborate with global artists and brands, bringing concepts to life through artwork, campaigns, and creative direction. Each collaboration has pushed me to explore new ways of merging emotion, rhythm, and design.

What I’m most proud of is how far this path has come — from creating my first pieces in the outskirts of São Paulo to seeing my work reach audiences across different countries and platforms. It’s not just about design itself, but about representing where I come from through the work I do.

What sets me apart is my perspective. I approach every project with a mix of global sensibility and local roots — blending refinement and rawness, structure and intuition. My goal is always to make something that feels real, something that people can connect to instantly.

Any big plans?
I’m in a moment where I want to keep expanding creatively and globally. My plan for the future is to keep building bridges between art, music, and culture — exploring new, collaborations, and ways to tell stories visually.

I’m looking forward to developing my own creative studio, a space where I can collaborate with other artists, designers, and musicians to create work that feels fresh, inclusive, and emotionally resonant. I also want to dive deeper into creative direction for visual campaigns and cultural projects, expanding beyond design into storytelling and brand identity.

In a broader sense, I want my work to inspire other creatives who come from places like I did — showing that it’s possible to start from the edges of a big city and still build something that reaches the world.

So yes, there are big changes ahead — but they all come from the same purpose: to keep evolving, learning, and creating art that connects people across borders.
