Daily Inspiration: Meet Estelle Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Estelle Robinson

Hi Estelle , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hi! I’m Estelle, I’m a Public Health professional by day, and a lifestyle content creator/ UGC creator on the side! I’ve been working in the intersection between Public Health and Social Work since 2015 when I graduated from undergrad & continued on to get my MPH at UCLA. I love working with the city’s most marginalized populations, and it is very rewarding, but I’ve always been a creative at heart, & have stepped into creating content as an outlet to express myself and share my DIY projects, outfits, my home, and more. I started my TikTok just by sharing snippets of my home, mini vlogs, my decor, etc. then one day I had the idea to start a series where I share “things I didn’t need but HAD to have” and that kind of took off. Now my niche is mostly home decor/ interiors but I incorporate a bit of everything that interests me. I started getting inquiries from brands to promote their product, but I became more interested in UGC around late 2022. I watched a ton of videos, created a portfolio, continued to grow my platforms while pitching to brands and receiving inbounds, and it’s been going ever since!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say it’s been pretty smooth sailing, all praises to The Most High. 🙏🏾 I honestly can’t complain! Content creation is honestly something I never planned to make income from, so I’m just grateful to work with the brands that I’ve worked with, and hope to continue to grow my portfolio. There are some slow seasons, and ebbs and flows as with anything else, but I’ve honestly been creating long before I ever knew this could be a career, so whether the money is there or not, this is something that truly brings me joy. If anything, a struggle if you want to call it that, was getting started in the first place & transitioning to marketing myself as a business. I had ‘analysis paralysis’ for so long and it took me awhile to actually go for it, so that’s a lesson I encourage everyone to avoid. Don’t think about it too hard and give yourself space to doubt yourself, just go for it!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a full-time public health worker by day, but I’m also a lifestyle and UGC content creator. I create content for brands to be used on their social platforms, and I also create content on my platforms, mostly TikTok and Instagram. I’ve worked with brands like Pathwater, Armani Beauty, Brooklinen, L’Oréal, Fossil, Hatch, and more. I love bringing the creative ideas in my head to life, and curating high-quality, aesthetic media for brands to promote and bring more awareness to their brand/ product. I’m most proud of the individuality in my style, and that I stay true to myself. I try not to follow too many trends, unless I honestly love them for myself. When most creators were following the beige aesthetic, I stuck to color, patterns, texture, & fun prints because that’s my personality at its core. I’d say what sets me apart from others, not all others though, is the favor on my life from God. I aim to be a light into others (Matthew 5:16) and to inspire and be inspired.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
To trust The Most High’s timing and not to get too caught up with what’s going on with other people. To cheer for others & wait for my turn. As I mentioned, there’s ebbs and flows in my journey, but as long as I’m having fun, producing quality content and staying true to myself, then I know for sure every opportunity that comes my way is destined for me. I’ve also learned to shoot my shot and believe in myself. If there’s a brand I love and I think I can add to their ongoing social media platform, I’ll reach out and pitch myself. I’ve landed a few deals that way. It shows confidence in my ability and content, and like my grandma always says “a close mouth doesn’t get fed!”
