Daily Inspiration: Meet Eric Ballew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Ballew.

Hi Eric, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story? 
It all started with a thought and an idea. A thought that had come to me while I happened to come across countless heartbreaking videos & stories of dogs abandoned & forgotten at shelters all over the country. Every day the numbers keep rising so much so that it’s becoming an epidemic. Crowding of these shelters has caused many of these facilities to be faced with the hard decision of euthanizing hundreds, even thousands, of perfectly healthy & full of life pups, due to this issue that sadly doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Here’s where the idea was born. As a coffee-obsessed man and as a dog lover, which my wife is, we decided on the perfect duo. Why not start a coffee company that is dog driven that aids in helping these pups? We donate 20% of our proceeds back to these organizations and shelters to help the dogs find forever homes and help towards any needs. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not, and still is not. We had to get down and dirty. Since this is a cause-based company, we had to find shelters and organizations that would allow us to partner with them. We had to build a community. Since coffee is pretty tight niched, we had to gain trust within our community. Being the new kid on the block, we have to constantly find new ways to advertise. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are known for our coffee brand and what we do. Our coffee is roasted to order, so it is always guaranteed the freshest. And since we donate to helping our community, we are known for making the lives of animals better. We are proud that we are able to help those in need while providing a quality product. I believe what sets us apart from others is the fact that we are able to help and give back to our community. 

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The bottom line to why we do what we do is the animals. If I know that an animal was provided with at least a blanket or maybe extra food for the day because of what we do, then I am happy. We strive to make animals’ lives easier and better. We know that shelters do the best they can but can always use an extra hand.
