Daily Inspiration: Meet Edwin Clemons II

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edwin Clemons II.

Hi Edwin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started in 2019, I was laying in bed not satisfied about my regular 9-5 jobs I’ve been accepting for the past years and I also wanted to leave an impact in my city with my next move, as I’m laying down, I was trying to think of ways I could work for myself and make money to support my family and help my city in any way so I decided in that moment to make my own business an llc something I can leave to my family if anything was to happen in life. Now I had the idea of what I wanted to do but no idea of which lane I was going to choose I had to figure out what people spent money on daily and that’s legal lol as I watched tv and scrolled on Instagram, I seen that most people spend money on clothing especially women they shop daily if not hourly 😂. Ok so now I know I want to work for myself I see that clothing is the way to go so now I need a catchy name so I came up with “richfitz la” so now we have a name I also came up with the slogan “chase uh bag make uh bag” which is the way I was living meaning if u chase your dreams you will be rewarded with success if you stick with it. Now we have a name a slogan now we need a logo so we remade one of my fav childhood movies Richie rich and some other childhood cartoon characters we remake new and up to date logos using those old characters which people love how we remix old favorite cartoons.

After my logo was made, I knew that I had to get into action but didn’t have enough funds to start on my own so I involved my woman (Mariah) and close friend (Emanuel) join the team so as a team we are able to put plans together on what content to put out and how we can better our business. We currently have run three great pop-up shops (VIBEZ OF LA) with 50 plus vendors each time so not only are we trying to get ourselves seen, we push to get all other black Entrepreneurs the space to showcase their products. It’s not just about us making it out but giving hope that others can get a chance to make their dreams come true that makes us feel like we’re making a difference were also having a toy drive on December 19th to give back to the less fortunate this is going to be an annual tradition going forward. Make sure u stay tuned for what’s coming next from us there will be more we will be dropping (richgirlz la) which will focus mainly on all our women drops.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A smooth road yea right AINT, nothing in life smooth it’s been ups and downs just like everyone; we bump heads hit dead ends on some merch some ideas aren’t as great as we hoped but we don’t give up; we keep pushing and striving to be great. Can’t just give up because some things don’t go your way it’s either gonna make or break you it’s enough people that show us support even when we feel like we doing bad. COVID is really one thing that’s been holding us back we can’t hold events like we normally been having but it still works out in our favor to help the other Entrepreneurs

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would say I specialize in creativity. I would say my thought process and putting certain images together and make it into a whole scene. I say that sets me apart from others in my circle. It makes me proud on the way that I can put pieces together, sit with my team and we can all come up with ideas on how to improve each other.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how everyone is inspired by my city. Big or small cities in states across the world imitate us. That shows how much love our city gets and how much of an influence we are to everyone. Now what I don’t like is how fast this city can take you out. I love my city, don’t get me wrong but it’s a lot of haters out here that want your spot so you have to stay clear of those people! But don’t let that stop you; it’s haters everywhere. I just hate how my city will hate you before they even get the chance to know you.
